Scratches on the outside - what to do, what to do

Lick_um

I have noticed that I am getting scratches on the outside of the flip, above the camera. I know I have seen other people with this same problem - has anyone resolved this issue via replacement of the phone, or any other means. I called Moto and they recommended that I shi[ it back to them for repair. If I can get it switched at a Verizon dealer - I would rather do that. I just wanted to know if anyone has returned their phone for a new one due to this problem and if they gave you any crap - being that I am now past my 15 days.... help please

Thanks all

Ok - but that doesnt help with the scratches that are already on there. I want to know if it will be possible for me to get a new phone. Now that I know the problem I can take the precaution to avoid issue on the new phone. I just want to know if anyone else has tried to return their phone for this reason and if Verizon gave them any grief...

But if I do get a new phone out of this - thanks Sponge for the input.

I tried to return it for the scratches problem the other day and they yelled at me saying "It's only superficial and nothing is wrong with the phone so we can't return it. You can exchange it for another phone if you don't like this one but we can't give you another v710". I knew Verzion was supposed to have great CS but this is above and beyond the call of duty (joking of course). I've had nothing but good experiences with Verzion up to this point. I was upset at the time but I guess they're right it is only superficial and every v710 does it and a new one won't fix that. So I've decided to live with it and you should too.

A new one WOULD fix it though - now that I know the problem - I can take precautions to fix the issue

If your car started scratching and chipping paint each time you opened the door would you think that that is superficial?

Motorola used shiny black and metal on the outsides of the V710 to make it look nice - and you paid for it. There's no difference between that and your car. The finish is meant to look good. Bottom line.

I say take your email from Motorola that says they'll fix it with you to Verizon.

bottom line is that your are comparing a $250 phone to a $60,000 vehicle. oh by the lets say you drop your phone and it ends up chipping right in the same spot where your phone is getting scratched are you still gonna complain about your TINY little scratches? NO your gonna live with.

Yes - if "I" did it - I would live with it - but it is a new phone, and I have NOT dropped it. Therefore I believe there should not be any scratches on it after 3 weeks of use.

No go with having Moto ship just the bezel. They tell me I need to talk to a autherized motorola tech. and have them order the part. Oh well right.

Ok, you're ticking me off...

I am but a lowly kiosk sales rep, there's only so much I am empowered to do (and even less that I am allowed to divulge on here in terms of "not for public release" type information) and I'm just tryin to hook a guy up with our parts supplier...

I tried that search since my other phone (V60s) needs some repair. Should it be listing VZW stores or just Moto Auth. Service Centers?

btw, I did a search for Wireless Phone Stores and the first three listings are for their Corporate HQ in my area. 🙄

Do they sell phones there? 😕

There's VZW retail stores next to all the corp headquarters... and there's an option to filter only moto auth service centers too...

Give motorola another ring, see if they can ship you just the front bezel, that you can take to the VZW store and have the motorola certified tech swap for you, then go to town with the duck brand ultraclear storage tape... screen, front, back, and anywhere else that gets abraided, just rub with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol first to make sure the tape sticks right, and use a stiff index card as a squeegee to keep air bubbles out as you apply it... if you get lines or bubbles in the tape you're doing it wrong. 🙂 (same way you apply window tinting film. 🙂

Walmart sells it, look in the business/office aisle, like with the pens and folders and avery stickers and thumbtacks etc... its pretty pricey (bout 4 bucks a roll or so) When I get home I'll see if it has a duck part number on it....

Not the point my friends - the point I'm trying to make is I have only had this phone for 3 weeks, I'm looking at the re-sale value of this thing when my contract is up and I want to pawn it off on someone else. If it is scratched this bad already - whats it going to look like in 2 years. I just want to know if anyone has returned their phone due to this issue - thats it and thats all.

Thanks again

Hmmm... My phone's getting scratches on the bottom, on the corners...

Oh, wait, I think it's a stupid user error! Could be that I dropped it a few times 🤭

C'mon people -- It's a PHONE. Use it, enjoy it, and don't worry about a few minor cosmetic issues. There are bigger things in life to worry about besides having a pristine phone.

Listen - I didn't ask for people to criticize me on what I do with my phone and the problems I see with it - all I wanted was for someone to let me know if they had any success returning it due to this problem. đŸ‘ŋ đŸ‘ŋ A $300+ phone, in my opinion, should not be scratched after 3 weeks of normal use.
