I go ahead and setup an appt lets say 2 days from yesterday, the time for the appointment rolls around and the phone does nothing. A few hours later I shut off my phone and turn it back on, and the alert pops up hours after it was..
Has this happened to anyone? I've noticed this behavior twice already.

Actually I was experiencing the same thing. Reminders would only show up after powering the phone off and back on. I called motorola tech support and they gave me the following advice:
-Go to setup in the main menu
-go to Initial Setup
-Scroll down to Master Reset.
-Do a master reset.
I did this and then tried the calendar and it alarms now work when they are supposed to. When you do the reset if won't erase anything but your settings. You will have to re-assign ringtones, wallpaper and other settings, but your phonebook and media should be fine.
