Yeah, it's cool that I can use the headset, but how many people would have bought this phone if they knew that Verizon Wireless intentionally crippled the majority of the Bluetooth capabilities. I bought this phone to sync with my car.... Can I????? No... Why??? Because Verizon says its a "security risk". Let's get a little real. You can use a password or individually turn off the Bluetooth funct...

When they pull stuff like this, they are only chipping away at their client base. It will catch up with them sooner or later!

I purchased the v710 believing that I would be able to sync my Tungsten T3 with it. Now I've found that not to be the case. However, the phone does have an expandable memory slot, and I'll keep it if only for that.

I am indeed disappointed that Verizon has sought to specifically exclude full Bluetooth functionality based upon an alleged "security risk", the notion of which seems little more than one veiled attempt to obfuscate profit motives. It seems to reason that Verizon's motivation for crippling the v710's functionality stems in part from the former's interest in preserving full royalty streams from its 3rd party resellers, who market their products through Verizon's wireless "Get-It-Now" network. Verizon apparently is achieving ...

I recently emailed VZW about the bluetooth problem and they said:

Dear ****,

Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless website. As part of our Worry
Free Guarantee, your concern becomes our concern the first time you contact us.
We are happy to assist you with your Motorola V710 Bluetooth question.

Currently, Verizon Wireless only allows the following Bluetooth functions on the

Contact syncing, file sharing, and any other Bluetooth functions outside of the
ones listed above are not currently available on the v710. The Motorola v710 is
our first Bluetooth handset. File transfer abilities have not ...
