backdoor to turn up volume on 710!!

not sure if you guys have seen this, i was on vacation for 2 weeks, but i got this from HOFO which has helped my phone considerably..

This reportedly only works on some v710 handsets. There seem to be at least two different software revisions going around sharing the same version number. · Enter the "Opcode Menu" by pressing: MENU 048263 * (you'll have to enter it rather quickly). · Enter 54* and press OK. This will suspend the phone and dim the backlight. · Press the external camera button to turn the backlight back on. You will see "SUCCESS". Press BACK. · Enter 5*0*15 and press OK. This will max out the system volume of the handset. You can use any number from 0-15 as the third digit, but even at level 15, the phone could be louder...

I cannot enter the 048263 code fast enough

Should I be pressing the MENU AND the numbers AT THE SAME TIME?

Please advise---thanks

No. one right after the other. Memorize the #string and input all at once, no stopping and it should work (Pronto!). 😉

All right...I entered the code correctly....

So, should my calls be louder when I am talking on the phone??

It has nothing to do with firmware. That opt code architecture is from day one of moto cell phones. And a word of advice from a moto tech; stay out of it. One can really screw things up royally in there and it will be beyond repair if you don't know what you did. There is no "factory reset" on that stuff. If people are not happy with the phone, then they should return it and get some of the other half wit phones out there that don't have half the features.

Did anyone do this and get good results?

I did and I *think* it's louder, but nothing too noticable...

According to Nuclear Elephant website, there seem to be two software revisions. The hack works on some phones, and I suspect yours is one of those which it doesn't work for.

I also fall into this category. Very unfortunate.

No normal headphone fits into this phone. What do i need to make it work or do they sell specific headphones?

do a search for MP35-A adapter, they ship from japan/korea/malaysia, arrive in 1-2 weeks, and let you drop a standard 1/8 inch (3.5mm) stereo headphones into the bottom of the phone....

Nope, that "slot" (really a socket or port or jack) is a 3 pin headset jack, for mic and mono audio... no good for stereo headphones...

eventually it'll be available here, but probabyl at twice the price....

Moto sells stereo head phones for it, but they're kinda pricy, i went to radio shack and got an adapter to fit a regular head phone size plug into the top jack on the phone, it was like 4$. That works just fine, i listen to MP3's in my car with the aux input, but unfortunately its only in mono, not stereo.

if you pull the rs adapter out about 1/8th of an inch you'll get great stereo 😁

The HS120 is in stereo. Even phone conversations are in stereo. I got mine for $19.99 from Moto w/$5.00 coupon for registering my phone. You can do all voice commands and when call comes in, music pauses and resumes when call is terminated. The sound is near mp3 player quality.
