Using regular headphones to listen to mp3s
an adapter for the 2.5mm jack check it, read the comment re: v710 on bottom - i think this is how most work but cheap enough...

uhmmm, just a thought, the mics in headsets are powered... its not exactly a good idea to plug anything but an electret mic into an electret mic hole... not only might you damage the headphones, you could also cook the current sink in the phone... get the proper adapter for the job... a 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapter is *NOT* the right one.

sponge is right. the v710 has a 4 conductor 2.5mm jack. to get proper stereo output get a 4 conductor adapter. Any rigged way has a good chance of messing up the phone. it is ok to use a 3 conductor headset to listen on mono and use it as it was designed.

i've been using it and it works great.... motorola and verizon overcharge for everything, this is a deal - what your saying about "cooking the sink" is a load of cr@p - just like you dont need to use motorola brand headsets to make hands free calls, you dont need motorola brand headsets to listen to mp3s, it operaters the same way audio traveling out of the 2.5mm jack

You can see from the pictures in both auctions that these are 4 pole adapters. In other words they are stereo.
