Video Playback Quality on a PC

Del

Ok, I was hoping to take some 3 min video clips, transfer them to a PC, and play them back in a large window for all to see but the quality stinks!!! I mean really blurry. Is this simply a technology limitation? Are the video clips just meant to be sent from phone to phone? Or is there a way to 'clean-up' the playback when viewed in a large window on a PC? Thanks.

I'm not sure off the top of my head. It must be a default program since I didn't choose one; I just double-clicked the file and it opened automatically in a viewer. I can find out for sure within the hour. Until then, can you recommend a viewer that works well?

I'm using Quick Time 6.5 by default to view the video clips. I can't find any options within the viewer to sharpen or clarify the image.

There is a limitation on how big and how clear you'll be able to make any image or any video. That limitation is the resolution of the image. For pictures from a v710 that resolution is 1280x960, however for video files it is much lower, somewhere around 240x180 (roughly 3% the area of a full picture) or so. Sure you're able to blow up a picture to fill the screen, but try blowing something up from 3% to 30 times as large.

Add to that the compression that the phone puts to the video and anything more than double the original size will likely look terrible. Its a phone with a video recorder, not a video camera, sending from phone to phone, or even grabbing a quick video for you to keep or send via email will work great. But full screen fu...

Oh well. I guess I'll still have to save-up for a digital video camera! 😲
