What's with the excitement on GMAIL its only an email account. What's with the hype?

Sure, they are going to "target" ads based on content - but nothing should be typed in an e-mail that you don't want posted to the world - no email is safe!
It especially kills me the way people think their work e-mail is "private" - hundreds of people in my organizaiton of thousands have "sys admin" rights....

I mean honestly, it doesnt really matter. If in my email i say the words "chinese food" and "New Jersey", it gives me an ad for the top ten chinese food places in New Jersey. It's not like they're "reading" the email, a computer with very little sense in logic or reasoning, is sorting through a bunch of words.

But why would you want ads targeted to you personally, based on "private" details in your life? just wondering
