Truth behind orange sticker, black sticker and no sticker.
Can anyone verify, first hand, that the orange sticker boxes have f/w .342 and black sticker boxes have f/w 1.3? What f/w was the original flawed phone?
For those of you who have recieved a replacement from Cingular's Exchange by Mail, did it come with a box? What sticker was on it?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, the orange dot box has the .342 firmware. The original was .325. I have not seen the 1.3. Hit start, settings, about, scroll down to manufacturer and you will find the software version.

I'm going to throw you for a loop. My mpx220 stopped allowing me to be heard during calls today. Luckily I was near a Best Buy to do an exchange. Though the new phone in the box had an orange sticker, it's firmware nonetheless, was v1.3! It's virtually impossible to know with any certainty what firmware will come in a box. Perhaps you'll get your firmware upgrade in an exchange like I did. Good luck.

how is the new phone working out for you

Today, outside at a NFL game, (go Chargers) I could barely here with this phone (v.342 firmware). So does your v1.30 solve the volume issues???
...
I'm sorry to say it did nothing to solve the volume issue. I had it another 2 days then decided to exchange it for the Motorola V551. The difference in overall volume is night and day. It's so loud the "siren" ring tone forced me to go outside to test other ring tones so as to not wake up the family! While I'm much happier with the volume levels, I'm saddened that the v220 experiment didn't work out. Despite all its bells and whistles, isn't the purpose of a phone is to hear the other person talking and know when a call is incoming?
