Would like some feedback from owners of this phone...

Hi all,

I'm currently the proud owner of the Audiovox SMT5600, and I love the OS, but I am partial to the clamshell form factor. I'm seriously considering switching to this Motorola phone for this reason.

I first wanted to get some feedback from owners of the phone. Do you recommend it? I have read more negative reviews than positive reviews, so I'm naturally a little hesitant. I am fully aware of the issue with the firmward update, and some of the reviews I read were pre-update, but, many were post-update too!

I want to hear it straight from some of you here on the board. There doesn't seem to be enough reviews in the "User Reviews" tab for this particular phone, plus it looks like many were pre-firmware update.

I have software version .342 and the earpiece volume is ok but am still trying out all the features. The voice and ear quality is better with bluetooth. I will keep you posted as I learn. I have three weeks to figure it all out. What I really want to do is access my corporate email and have not yet figured that out.

If you only need a Windows phone with synch capabilities, this is a great phone. If you want to get the full use out of it through the data services (use it as a modem for your PC, access the web via bluetooth through the phone, download POP3 mail), then stick where you're at. Cingular has launched this phone very prematurely - they do not support all the data functions that, in my opinion, make the purchase price worthwhile. So, it's a great phone, but the infrastructure insn't there yet. Hope this helps
