MEdia packages and PDA Connect

Cingular just changed its policy regarding data packages for PDA type phones. The MPX 220 falls in this range due to its browsing and email capabilities. For several months Cingular has allowed the MEdia Basics and MEdia Works packages to be placed on PDA/phone lines. They are now re-introducing the PDA Connect package. It is $39.99 for unlimited data services EXcluding text and multimedia messaging. The previous MEdia Works package was $19.99 for unlimited data, 1500 text msgs, and 200 multimedia msgs. Anyone who already has the MEdia packages will not be forced to change.

Looks like owning this phone just got more expensive. Bummer.

You are probably talking about cingular Express mail service. 39.99 standalone, 34.99 with a voice calling plan. does that sound right?

No. The PDA Connect package was what Cingular originally offered to PDA users when they first launched GSM. Then they changed the way that the MEdia Packages are provisioned on the back end to make them work with PDAs. Now they have changed their mind and are going back to PDA Connect.

Yes, I work for Cingular and this info. was distributed to us yesterday by internal email. I believe that if you can get the MEdia package it should still work for your MPX. You are correct with the prices for Express Mail but thats not for web browsing.

they should not sell you the works package on the mpx. you will have to buy the pda connect package. the 2.99 feature i assume would work for wap sites only. i don't think that feature is provisioned on the back end to support some of the more advanced features the phone is capable of. but 500kb is not much for a phone like this.
