Could someone enlighten me as to what the newest version of firmware is? I've been looking to purchase this phone but want one without all the issues.
Thanxx

So there is no version 1.70.0.0?
...
Two Cingular stores and Best Buy all have version 1.30. Some of the boxes have small black dots, some do not. All have large orange dots. Be sure that you check the phone to make sure it is version 1.30 before buying. So far versions 1.8 or 1.9 are urban legends.

All,
I just the phone from AT&T Wireless, and under the phone setting about, it has:
ROM update version: "blank"
Manufacturer: 0.343.0.0
Is this a 1.3 version? I called Tech Support and they said that my phone should have all the latest patch/update. Is this make correct?
Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, the info that AT&T gave you appears to be untrue.
It should state Manufacturer 1.30
I seriously doubt the yay-whoos from AT&T knew what they were talking about, that's why they gave you that generic answer of, "it should be the latest..."
...
so the version 0.343.0.0 is the same as 1.3, right?

No, check out the threads on the 3rd and 4th pages of this forum..."where can I get new firmware," and "how to check ROM version."
As far as I can tell, it sounds like you have the older version that people had all the complaints with. Although, I seem to recall reading a couple threads where individual(s) had a previous version and had no problems.
I have seen versions .343, .325, and .342 mentioned as older versions w/glitches
I have seen and personally own 1.3 as the newest (with apparently all probs fixed), and one individual who claims his phone has 1.7; if he does, then I'm definitely jealous!

go to about again and continue to scroll down. you will see the version number. I made the same mistake at first until a fellow phone scooper helped me out.
