Camera Shutter Tone

I've been searching all night through the forums and I believe this has never been asked yet. If it has, I do apologize but I'd like some assistance for anyone that can offer it.

I love this phone so much now that the new firmware has been done (1.30) I bought the phone at BB the night it came out.. terrible.. took it back the next morning.. Tried again on the new version and I love it!

My main question so far is How in the world! can you turn that stupid shutter tone off?? Some people at Cingular opened a used one that someone had returned and the shutter tone was off already on it, but they weren't sure how it was done cause they had just got it in and weren't too familiar with it.

Can anyone PLEASE answer this question?

In addition, one last thing.

When going into the sound settings, I can select an mp3 I put on the phone as my ringtone.. BUT.. when I go down to email notification, txt msg not. etc, it ONLY lets me pick what is on the phone! It excludes the mp3's I've added. The only format I've been able to make it notice OTHER than what is on the phone is by putting a file in .wav format. But geez that takes too much space.

Can anyone help with EITHER of these questions, I would most appreciate the help!!

To shut off the shutter sound, you need to use a registry editor and then go into the following registry key: HKLM -> SOFTWARE -> ArcSoft -> Camera -> Shutter sound
and then change the value from 1 to 0.

Since I'm basically cheap, I use this free one, PHM Registry Editor. It's quirky, in that it occasionally will just shutdown while you are using it. You can get it here.

Just found it about 2 hrs ago, OMG... FREAKING AGGRIVATING HAHAHA The page tells you to use the desktop installer but yet when you use it.. it doesn't give you the option to install the PHM.. soooo I improvised, copied files onto the phone, ran one of the cabs then it installed successfully woo! but said I needed another one, went and found it, installed and now works haha.. man.. That was rough.. I'm about 100% sure there was an easy way.. I just didn't happen to see it haha!

That worked like a charm changine the value to 0 MAAAAAD PROPS Y0! Most impressive 😁 Any other fun lil tweaks we can do with the registry editor? 😈
