Does anybody have experience in using the MPx220 as a modem via cable connection with a laptop (Win XP)? I am more interested in hearing from anybody who has actually achieved a successful connection.
Thanks very much.

Just got the phone last Friday and had a 12 hour car ride this past weekend. Used the phone as a modem for my (W2K) laptop and it worked great!

I think it works better if you aren't moving 75MPH and driving through different cell sites, but it was pretty cool.

how did you set up the modem? I was using the instructions from the Motorola website and installed the modem driver. However in the instructions it says that you need to get an "APN initialization string from your wireless service" Did you go thru this same process and if so could you provide the info for the initialization string. I have no idea what that is and i'm sure Cingular tech support will not know.

thanks

We just created a dial-up BT phone connection (through the laptop's BT wizard), set the user name to "[email protected]" and the password to "CINGULAR1" (all caps). The phone number is "*99#" and it seems to work fine.
