Are there others that are having the problem of getting online using Explorer? It is taking forever to get online; actually, I have not been able to get online (I got tired of waiting for the connection). 😕

Did this start after you did the hard reset? I would try mine for you, but I ran the battery completely dead just a few minutes ago.

This is probably a dumb question, but when you go online w/your phone, does the amount of time you spend come out of your minutes (whether daytime, or night/weekend)???

Reason I didn't think it did is because I have MEdia Works with unlimited data transfer. I was thinking internet usage only involved the data transfer and not actually the times you went on like they were phone calls?

Actually, I could not get online before I did the hard reset. Now that I did do it, I was able to get online. I think the hard reset did help me with the photos and being able to get online (even though I totally understand what the other guy said about losing info). Also, your question is not dumb, I just cannot answer your question. You should probably check with cingular to make sure. I would be willing to bet because you do have "Works," you will not have to worry. Let me ask you a probable "silly" question: I went to yahoo and checked my email; next, I signed out. How can I make sure that I am not still online? I may have signed off a webpage but how do you sign totally offline so you are wasting minutes (I don't unlimited)? 🤭

If your phone no longer has the "G" in the area of reception/signal strength, then you are no longer on line, and not attempting to send/receive info, so I can't see how you would be subject to usage.

Do you have to consider time spent on wireless internet with your phone as part of your minutes for talking? I never thought to ask Cingular when switching to them.

Are you referring to the "G" on the external screen or internal? The "G" on the external screen is always on next to the reception/signal strength. On the internal screen, I have notice that the "G" is on only when I am online. Is the the "G" on the external screen always on and does not mean that I am online??? 😕

Just to clarify, when I am online, the "G" is on the internal screen right next to the rec./sig. strength. I have a "G" in a white box but it is not right next (top center of screen)to the reception/signal strength when I am not online. 😎

I believe the "G" is just supposed to indicate that you are able to go online (in range of a GPRS signal), and not that you are online.

Thanks for the info. I think that Black16 is right also when he said that you are online if the G is right next to the signal on the internal screen. Hey, answer this quesion: Black16 wanted to know if we are using our regular minutes when we are online? Black16 has the Media Works; I would imagine that he is not using regular minutes. What do you think?

That's cool, but I probably just need to call and find out for sure. I hate to think about waiting for 1/2 hr just to get the answer.

The G in the middle of the screen means you have service "GSM" the way it did with TDMA and it had a D when you had service. The other G which replaces the antenna sign is when you are actively online.

Cool, thanks bro. You explained it well. I did not understand the "D" or "G" because I was with Sprint (please excuse my transgression for once being a "Sprinter")which, as you know is PCS. I know that you don't want to go thur the drama of getting an answer to such a simple question as online minutes but let me know the answer too. 😁

If you have the Media Works package, then your internet time is unlimited. Nothing will come out of your anytime or weekend minutes. It goes by the data transferred and received--not by your plan minutes. I suggest the Media Works plan to anyone who will be going online to check emails, download ringtones, etc. because you'll definitely go over the 1MB in the Media Basic plan. Take it from me. I've been there and done that on the 2nd phone line that I have on my account. Needless to say the bill wasn't pretty for the 2nd line.

😁 Hey, thanks for the great information. I have media basic but I may upgrade to works. I can only imagine the cost if I go over my 1MB. Don't want to pay that kind of money.. 👿
