Headset and Audible Ring

Does anyone know how to force this phone to ring with the external speaker when the headset is plugged in? I don't want to plug and unplug my headset when I don't have the ear piece in my ear.

I emailed Motorola and the MPX-220 will not ring through the external speaker when the headset is plugged in.
