unbelievable... I just got a replacement phone with 1.3 yesterday after harassing the xbm department forever... Now I could just upgrade myself if I wanted... well, the good thing is that they are now putting public versions out there, so hopefully there will be following ones as well.

I tried to upgrade but had no success. I am pretty confident I followed all the instructions including the extra notes found at

http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/3560.html »

but during the part 1 install the System Update application on my PC states "Suspend Sleep Mode" and nothing happens. I left it for 5 hours hours and the install never completed.

Thoughts?

I had the same problem using my laptop PC. I then downloaded the upgrade utility to a desktop. The upgrade went a bit further - Flash installer - and hung up again. Next I made sure the Modem drivers were installed and I turned off Bluetooth. This time it worked. No idea which one of the myriad of things I did made it work. I hope Motorola has hired a few additional tech support engineers to handle the calls that are sure to arise. This upgrade is NOT trivial. Once I get my Exchange messages synchronized, I'll try to figure out if there is anything of significance in the upgrade. I have been able to check out the camera...it still provides less than spectacular performance. I hoped to see Media Player 10...but it isn't included in ...

I have SW version .343 on an AWS delivered phone. I ran the update and get a message that no new updates are available. I thought this update was to get to 1.3??? I read on another board that .343 = 1.3, but coming from a company whcih develops various SW applications, that makes no sense to me...

I'm now wondering if the tool may be blocked by my companies firewall and I need to do this from home when I have my own (unfiltered) internet connection. The flip side of this is that the message does not come back and say anythign about not connecting, just that no newer updates are availabe.

Anyone know what's going on here?

If it is working as it is supposed to, at least we have the update tool and can periodically run it to see if...

I have the same phone with AT&T with the .343 firmware and I get the same "no updates available" message. I was really hoping that I would be able to get the 1.3 upgrade cause my phone has a lot of audio problems.

I had quite a few challenges with this upgrade. I finally did a hard reset on the MPX-220 and did the install from a PC with which I have never synched my MPX. I downloaded MS Activesync 3.8 onto this PC and performed an initial synch and then went straight into the install. 10 minutes later my phone was running with 1.3. No problems.

I guess I was experiencing some application or configuration conflicts on my other attempts and doing the install from a clean phone and PC overcame these conflicts. Maybe this will help someone else

I have heard that many people are having problems updating to the latest FW via the update tool. I just spoke with Motortola and they confirm the tool is having problems. They further indicated that they expect the tool to be funtioning properly within 1-2 weeks. Apparently they released the tool, but never setup the database on the backend, so no matter what FW you have, it tells you there are no new updates available for your "device."

On another note, since they call your MPX220 a device, I wonder if it woudl work with other Moto phones? We'll have to see....

If anyone has been successful, I'd love to know. BTW, I have .343 on my phone.

I had .325 on my phone, and the upgrade worked as advertised. The volume is a little better, and the same goes for the camera (although I really don't use the camera much). One minor thing that used to annoy me has been fixed, with the timeout on the keyboard light being too quick.
