gmail access problems

All, I have followed all instructions to get my phone to access my gmail account to no avail. Has anyone else gotten it to work (recently)? If so, perhaps I missed something. I've set up gmail to enable pop/smtp access, and think I have all the proper settings in my MPx's inbox account.

Please let me know.

I think I figured it out.... I logged into GMail via pop/smtp on my desktop PC and then tried again with the settings as outlined for the Smartphone and it worked! Guess the GMail servers have to have at least an initial request for pop access from a standard client.
