I have tons of apps on my mpx220 from alt.binaries.warez.smartphone off usenet, but this is one of the coolest I've found. It's called Pocket Controller Professional. Not sure how much it costs retail. It lets you control your smartphone through your pc, by either clicking on the virtual phone on your desktop, or you can use your keyboard (very useful when typing). There's a feature so that you can use skins too...obviously I'm using the MPx220 skin. Also, I can start calls through my computer and finish the call on my phone w/ speakerphone w/o ever actually opening the phone.

ok...so let me get this straight...this is an app that lets your PC access your smartphone (via USB, BT, what??) and place a call? Isn't that kinda like Vonage reversed, only with a cell phone?

How does this work? And how is it practical?

nooooo...it's not meant for me to make calls on my computer...it's meant for me to be able to control my phone on my computer. that's all. a cool thing about it is that i can either control it through the on-screen buttons (w/ the 220 skin) or I can use my keyboard...which can be EXTREMELY practical. It has nada to do w/ voip...i was just pointing out that i can make/receive calls on my phone w/o opening it...by pressing the call button in the program on my pc. so, i can have a whole convo on my phone through speakerphone w/o ever opening it.

i dunno how well im explaining this. i have it set up to open whenever an activesync is established.

GEO, how did you make phone calls with Pocket Controller? I couldn't get the send button to work. This also means I couldn't switch to speakerphone. ~a8le

i had the same dillema at first...you can either set a key on your keyboard to be the send button through the program's settings, or use the mpx220 skin and just click on the send button on the skin.

Geo, I did it and changed it to the mpx220 skin, this is really cool, but I now have two questions 1-How do you start the phone call and get the speakerphone to work? 2-Did you have to purchase the software or did I download the wrong one? (I have a temporary 3 day trial version)
I love this stuff thanks in advance. 😁

Not to dis your cool find, but...

Can't you do the same exact thing with Mobile Phonetools? I can dial and send calls on my V551 through bluetooth or USB with MPT. I'm sure it works with the MPX220 also. Nonetheless, cool find, I might try it out.

Peace,

kirk, while the phone is closed, dial a number and then press call. once it starts ringing, press menu and then speakerphone on.

rafster, i don't know what mobile phonetools is, but the v551 and mpx220 run on two completely different operating systems, so there would have to be a windows mobile compatible installation file for us to use it.

The PC I use to synch my phone with has a 1024x768 LCD display. The MPX220 skin is taller than 768 pixels. I would, however, be able to see all of the display AND access all of the buttons if I just adjusted that "window" such that the top (earpiece) and bottom (mic area) were cut off, BUT I can't get it to stay there. Every time I drag the skin, it drops back down to show the entire earpiece, preventing me from accessing the bottom row of buttons. Is there something I'm overlooking to allow me to place it where I want it?

dscline, not sure if i get your question, but try fully expanding the skin window, doing so will anchor the window down.

now my quesion... has as one been able to use their keyboard with the program? The only thing that I have been able to use is the mouse. Can't type in anything! 😢 ~a8le

hmm...never thought of that...my res is 1280...maybe try a smaller skin for a different phone...all u really need is the left and right soft keys and the call and end call buttons...everything else i believe u can do w/ ur keyboard

or you can right click the skin and click view>zoom and change the percentage...that should work a little better

Ok, that's an option, thanks. Still seems silly that it refuses to allow you to have part of the skin above the top of you display area.
