Motorola MPx220

I definately want to buy this phone... but cingular plans are really expensive. $79.99 for unlimited internet access additional to your voice plan. I'll be using my phone as a modem for my laptop. AT&T is cheaper than cingular, and tmobile has unlimited internet for $19.99! Correct me if any info is wrong. I'm not sure what to do. Buy the phone from cingular, wait until ATT has it, or just buy it for $500 from Best Buy and use TMobile with it. Any suggestions?

FYI - Yesterday I had to exchange my phone because it said "No Service" even though it was showing reception. I thought it was a problem with my Cingular account, but it was the phone. Now I DO have a problem with my account, because during my calls to customer service, they tried to reset my account. Due to the merger, it's taking a long time for transactions to be processed.

So if you get No Service showing up where it says Cingular, you most likely have a phone problem.

How do I get the blue tooth and MPT3.11 to work. I do not see the mpx220 in the MPT list.

So about 3 months ago I purchased a Treo 600 from Cingular, signed a contract and what not, used the phone for a while and now am thinking of buying the MPx220. I have read all the user opinions about the phone, weighed the pros and cons and and seriously thinking about buying it once it hits Cingular stores and is not exclusively at Best Buy anymore. Has anyone used both of these phones? I would really like to hear some opinions.

Has anyone been able to install jars/jads on the mpx220? I put a few in my "My Documents" folder. I tried clicking on the jar and jad in the file manager, but nothing happens.

There's a games and app selection in my start menu. It has 2 java games, but I can't find them in any directory. Any ideas?

Once the phone is released for ATT, whenever it is released, obviously the GPRS settings will be formated for ATT... Would there be a way of changing the settings to the Cingular GPRS... basically making the ATT phone a Cingular phone... i know the phones will be unlocked, and that one can change the setting from the cingular settings the ATT settings...

Has anyone got it to work on thier mpx 220?

I hit the install button and it says coming soon. I called Cingular and they have no record of this phone existing.... They said to call back when they have the phone for sale directly which is when they will be able to assist me. Is there someone out there smarter then Cingular's employees?

Just wondering which you all thing is the best phone, the Sony Ericson z500, Nokia 6230 and Motorola MPx220... On the surface, it seems that the mpx220 would be the best, however after reading user reviews, it appears that it has volume and quality issues, and I *need* a loud phone that works well. I know the Nokia 6230 is bar style, but it has all the features I'm looking for and with great reviews. I have the 6200 and LOVE the quality... I just HATE the bar style.

On a side note, does anyone know how much video the z500 and mpx220 can capture? The Nokia can do up to 4min from what I understand. Thanks!!

Just found out that a certain retailer will be selling this phone for a mere $49 with activation, i'm assuming a two year committment. This is a day after Thanksgiving sale type thing. I wonder why this is happening, maybe it's because of the damn flaws this phone has. I returned mine today, but might buy it back for only 49, if not i'll get the RAZR. Just letting you know what's up. 🙂

Does anyone have an error pop up when you go to open settings? It doesn't happen to me very often but it does happen from time to time and it's quite annoying. It tells me that there is either insufficient memory available, or that the memory available couldn't be accessed. And the only way i can access settings is by restarting the phone. 👿
ALSO, i set my phone's alarm to wake me up at 7am and this moring i woke up late because this damn phone stalled, really weird, the external display stayed on, the time was 6:30 (it was really 7) and it just stalled like that, the internal display was just white, i had to take my battery out to restart the phone. WTF?!!!!??

Has anyone been able to download games or ringtones. I purchased a game on the Cingular web site, when I try to retreive the game I get Error message: that site is unavailable. Cingular tech support does not know what the problem is they are looking into it. So I was wondering if anyone was able to download games from cingular site or is it just a problem with my phone.

do anyone knows if pocket microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint are ava. for this phone.

I have downloaded some great images (jpegs) but can't locate them once I download them. Also, because I can't find them I can't put them into my caller ID.

Okay, I'm already terribly bummed about the lack of Bluetooth voice dialing. Can I play my music files over the headset? If so, how?

For those of you who have had both phones, is the MPx220 faster than the MPx200? The MPx200 was like an old PC without enough RAM. You couldn't take a call waiting, for example, while the phone was "thinking."

I finally have a handset with good volume and that seems to work well in all but one other respect...

When i turn power off power doesn't go off! The phone starts to power down but the keypad remains lit. If i close the flip after i attempt power down and reopen then I see that the keypad is still lit and the screen is lit but all white/blank. keys seem sort of active but i can't do anything with them other than make noise. the only think i have found that works is to take the battery out....

What exactly is the point of this phone if you cannot use voice dial from a Bluetooth headset?

Why would you want to use Bluetooth with it?

I bought my mpx220 yesterday and I'm already irritated by it!

I've been waiting for the MPx220 for months, but I needed a new plan and had read too many poor reviews for the phone. I looked at it at Best Buy and wasn't terribly impressed. On the other hand, I saw the SMT5600 in person and was quite surprised.

Though I hate the candy bar design, the construction was extremely well put together. After using the SMT5600 for a week I am even more in love with it. It also has gotten quite a "wow" reaction that I wasn't expecting at all. I attribute this to the quality feel, cool colors, and huge screen.
