VX-8000 vs. Motorola V710

I'm in a little bind. I know that the VX-8000 is in the field for 500 Verizon customers. I've been waiting for the VX-8000 but I don't think my existing phone is going to make it. Is there anyone out there that has used both phones and if there is can you give me an honest comparison between the two because my next choice in phones would be the Motorola V710? I need all of the features that both phones have except Bluetooth. Speakerphone, voice dialing, camera, good large phone book, mp3's etc. Please help me with my decision if possible. โ˜น๏ธ

My phone is on the brink as well, I am still using a Moto V60 that is on borrowed time. My back light is out.

I am sticking it out for the VX-8000. Remember, good things come to those who wait. ๐Ÿ™‚

You can see the comparisons for the V710 and the VX8K right here on Phone Scoop. Granted I haven't used the VX8K myself (yet), but I did have the opportunity to use the v710. It's not worth the money they're asking for it, my friend. Save your dough and buy a real phone. You should check with some authorized agents in your area. Many agents give loaner phones to customers provided they agree to renew with them when their contract comes up for renewal, or in your case, when the phone you want comes out. Hold out for that VX8K, you won't regret it.

If you can't wait for the 8000, skip the 710. It has too many problems and is ovepriced.

The phone you should look at is the Audiovox 9900. Check...

I have the moto 710 now and there are a lot of things that I like about the phone. But there are way too many software bugs. While there will be updates, they said the same thing about the 720's when they were first released and the problems were never completely fixed. I wouldn't put stock in that theory. Not to mention my 710 is really pissing me off right now!! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

As for the 8000, I have been an LG fan since I got the 6000 when it first came out. I'll be getting this phone when it's released.

Unless you need bluetooth, I usually tell people to stay away from the 710. The bluetooth doesn't work all that well anyway. People always say I sound different (in a bad way), although they still usually can understand me. I...

I would stick with the vx8000 if your main priority is the camera. The v710's camera is nothing to be proud of..

Other than the camera (and evdo), the v710 is still a more useful handset. I determine that by the amount of features each handset has, and by the usefullness of the features each handset offers.

I am tempted to buy the vx8000, but still really like my v710. If you aren't depending on the camera, and like the feature set of the v710, I'd say stick with your original choice. With a soon-to-be-offered 256mb TF card, the v710 can store a lot of mp3 files, pictures, videos, etc... The vx8000 only has 48MB of memory available for storage.

The expandable memory is the main reason why I prefer the v710 over the vx8000. If the v...

I really appreciate your input. Just to let you know I purchased the v710 almost 2 weeks ago and I can honestly say that this is the best phone I've ever had. The camera is not a major issue. I'm in sales and I'm on the road all day. The reception is the best I've ever had and the phone book is highly sophisticated. I've had Audiovox, Sampsung, LG etc. My Star Tac had the best reception from all of the phones I've had except the v710. The people that are giving this negative reviews don't how to use this phone or just want a toy to play with. The screen is great especially for web access. Some of the complaints are about the screen scratching, I bought a leather case and it's great. Another complaint is the battery, I bought the extra capaci...

Yeah, I can speak a little better on this subject speaking I have both phones in my hand right now. Ok the v710 is by far the worst phone ive ever had and NO im not some novice who cant use a phone. The v710 was released to early and the disabling features make the bluetooth underpar compared to other phones. The cameras 1.2 clarity is horrible and ontop of it all. The bugs make mp3 ringtones a hassle to customize. The transflash card constantly corrupted my pictures going from my pc to the unit to use as backgrounds. Now the vx8000 is great, has everything the 710 does but the transflash and also the bluetooth. I hear they are fixing these issues in the LG vx8100 which is due out a little after the 8000. The v710 needs alot of...

The only reason you get problems with corruption is because the v710's TF card is not hot-swappable. I did extensive reviews on this phone as soon as it became available and was the first to report many of the problems the phone was having. The TF card, when taken out while the phone is powered on was one of the major issues.

As far as your comparison to the vx8000, I would have to disagree. As I previously stated, they are for different users. A business executive in an area with crappy digital reception would totally hate the vx8000 as it would be uselesss. I am sitting in my basement right now with my v710 going from 2-3 bars in DIGITAL, and my girlfriend's vx7000 has nothing. If I switch to analog, I get nearly full reception. Althoug...

Well said!! ๐Ÿ˜

Too many kids are buying these phones as "toys" because they think it is impressive to their friends to have all these "cool" features and when they find that it is still a phone, and the "cool" features are not as cool as they thought, they put the whole phone down! ๐Ÿ˜ข

A cell phone should be bought first to be a good PHONE, with good reception for the use that you will need it for and with tri-mode a great asset to many people. But realizing that any of the "new" technology features are going to be limited and not up to the hype from any manufacture.

The "cool" features should be considered as something to use when you don't have the better product handy, like a real digital camera or an MP3 player, not as so...

I can't AGREE WITH YOU MORE. ๐Ÿ™‚

As I stated in my post I purchased this phone and it's the best one I've ever had. I'm a businessman, a plumbing technical rep that spends a lot of time in areas that my Star Tac couldn't get a signal. Boiler rooms, etc. The v710 gets a signal. It's NOT a toy, it's a professional phone and it's not for kids that want to listen to music and take pictures then give negative reviews on it because it's not up to their standards. I left a positive review on this phone just recently and the heading was, Tired of Negative Reviews. The next review was from someone that stated, Tired of people lying. He goes on to state that he is a professional and owns a business and bought the phone for the camera. Then makes al...

Thanks for proving my point already before I being my comments. Why would anyone spend money in a phone if the TF card requires that much attention? Sorry but not many people want to have to struggle with there phone when it was said to have media capabilities from the companies own website. Youโ€™re arrogance is quite disappointing as well, speaking in a few years analog will be gone because of the digital revolution. Verizon has already stated that it plans on dumping the analog towers they acquired from the merger they had when they were still Bell Atlantic very soon. Reasons my opinions are biased is for a clean reason might I add. To put it simply the v710 is an incomplete buggy piece of crap. Who wants limited Bluetooth and a crapp...

I apologize if you feel that I called you names, but all I was trying to say was that the v710 is a great phone. Now before you go off again saying that it is your opinion, and that you are entitled to it (because you are, as is everyone), your definition of phone is clearly different than mine.

Your definition of a good [cell] phone means having great functionality beyond that of making a simple call (I don't mean to be putting words in your mouth, but that is what I summized from your posts). The vx8000, it seems, will have a greater network for data transfer, GIN, SMS, etc... But as you mentioned, the v710 offers many of the same functions of the vx8000 and more (though not all), but may not be as stable of a phone. This is evident thr...

Actually you're both right and wrong. Both phones are great phones.

I'd like a veggie lovers pizza if I was a vegetarian and id like a meat lovers pizza if i wasnt a vegetarian. either way, both pizzas are great and everyone is different dependant on their taste.

both phones are great and have different advantages that you can't really compare. (i.e. can't compare bluetooth and evdo). Every phone has a bug or two, we all know that.

On basis of voice quality, each cell is different. Come on, comparing a tri-mode to an all-digital. Yeah they're in the same baseball game ,but they're on totally different sides of the field. Each have their own weaknesses and advantages. Each operate differently in different fields. If you want to, t...

This is to the Crazy Italian.

I have a right to my own opinion and I don't like being called a LIAR. I'm a professional person and have used th v710 for over a month for business mostly. Also for pleasure. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT!!! I only use the Bluetooth headset and don't need any other Bluetooth functions. It works perfectly. The voice dialing has been a pleasure to use. The speakerphone has been a pleasure to use. I get reception in DIGITAL AREAS THAT MY OTHER DIGITAL PHONES DIDN'T GET!!! The only time this phone locked up on me was when I was scrolling the menu too fast. It doesn't any more. The camera serves its purpose if needed. If I really need to take photographs I'll use a digital camera. The TF card works perfect...
