you don't want to pay 4.99 a month for 24 months then shell out a 50 dollar dedeuctible if you ever need your phone replaced? why not it is only 170$ over your two year contract and they send you a wonderful refurbished phone with 2000 minutes of usage on it already. It doesn't get much better than that 😁 Your homeowner's or renter's insurance will probably cover it, you just might check to see what your dedeuctible is if you have either of those. As far as I know places like radio shack and other inderect retailers can only provide insurance to you if you bought it from them.

If you don't purchase insurance you would only get a 1 year manufacturer's warranty (which covers defects only) and it doesn't matter what the contract length is.

State Farm has a Personal Items Policy that covers this. I forget the prices, but it's much cheaper and no deductable. However, you have to insure other things with it (there's a minimum coverage amount). Call an Agent for specifics. Also I think it only covers stolen items, not physical damage but I could be wrong.

I chose not to get this policy because I wouldn't want to have to make a claim with State farm where I have my car and home owners....(could go on my record as a claim). Whereas I have two claims per year with Verizon's insurance company.
