I am debating whether to get the SAMSUNG SCH-a890 or the VX-8000 and would greatly appreciate it if you would please answer the following questions for those of us who have not been lucky enough to participate in the free trial:

1.) How is the reception?

2.) How loud are the ringtones? Since it has stereo speakers, I would hope that the ringers are nice and loud.

3.) How strong is the vibrating motor? My SAMSUNG a530 is so weak that I cannot feel it vibrate in my pocket if I am walking!

4.) Is the earpiece volume loud enough to hear in noisy, public areas?

4.) Were you able to use MP3 music as ringtones without much difficulty installing them on the phone?

5.) Were you able to load "dead ringers" onto the phone without mu...

1. the reception is very good. even at a low bar, you can hear the person very well.
2. good loud and nice quality ringers.
3. it's so strong that u can HEAR it easily
4. yeah the earpiece is easy to talk and listen through even if in noisy and loud places
5. i dont know what a dead ringer is. if u mean polyphonic, then they work and are good. i downloaded one of those mini clip of real music mp3s, they're mp3 quality and it's easy setting ringers to 'caller id', ' non-caller id', and 'all people'.
6. i admit it is big, but it's easier to press buttons and read. it does not buldge out of your jeans unless you're a girl and you wear tight clothes. it also comes with a holster.other than that, it's fine
7. i'm not sure, it charges up qui...

Guys,

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer each one of my questions, it is greatly appreciated.
It sounds like just what I've been looking for, I only hope that it is not as big as everyone is claiming it to be. I have played with the VX-7000 several times and do not find it unusually large so I should be OK with the 8000.

Based on your responses, I am now 99% sure that I will order the VX-8000 through my VZW corporate rep. this week so that I can receive it by the launch date of Feb. 1st!

Thanks again, it is people like you that make this forum so enjoyable!

1.The reception is great. Good volume and clarity.
2.The ringtones are nice and loud and sound great. Although I always have it both vibrate/ring.
3.It vibrates fine, even if in your pocket while walking.
4.I particularly love the earpiece that came along with it, because it has a little volume dial that you can adjust so it can be really loud and its also clear. I’ve had a few cheap earpieces in the past and this one is definitely a lot better.
5.Ok I was not able to email myself any mp3’s or full songs. I was able to convert my mp3 songs into small clips via iTunes, then change the file names to .midi and email it as a ringtone. That’s the only way I know how to get my own ringtones to work. It doesn’t work if its sent as a small ...
