😡

I just got this phone...so excited all day, get it...love it...get home. IT DROPS A CALL. My 6000 has NEVER dropped a call the hole year and half I have had it. Have this phone one day and first day I have it! Also the signal bars are going up and down on my phone and my 6000 always had full strength everywhere. Has anyone else had anything similar happen? Or could I possibly have gotten the first lemon of the batch?????

Did you update your roaming info. Also, the 8000 is an all digital phone. If your 6000 was not then that might be the reason.

Well the phone was just programmed so updating would not be necessary. The 6000 was an all-digital phone as well so that wouldn't be the answer either. You probably just did get a bad one. Also if you are in an EV-DO city than it might be an issue with the EV-DO tower there.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with digital...my LG 6000 is digital...and like iconic said by programing it *228 isn't going to help. I am going to DOA it tomorrow when I get to work, I just wondered if anyone else had something similar happen...worries me that there is a bad one already. I am however impressed with everything else.

Oh my god, the world is going to end!!! 😈 But sersiously, it was probably just a glitch so I wouldn't worry about it.

Got mine from Verizon store. I think I was the only person in entire state of Delaware who knew this phone even exist.

If the "EV" icon is showing at the top of the screen, that could explain the signal jumping up and down. I have noticed that when it is not there, I have a steady full signal, but when the phone switches over to EV mode, my signal fluctuates (normally significantly lower). This, however, should not be a problem, because when you make a call, the EV goes away and you are on the CDMA network only.

Not at all, if there were lemons, us testers would have got them 😛 Its just using the new network, they are still working on it.

The phone works anywhere you have digital service. The EVDO area is only needed for the high speed access and downloading video clips.

Yes, it is possible to get a lemon phone, can happen with any mass produced piece of electronics. Just bring it back and get another one.

I'm gun shy of new LG handset models. I had an LG 6100 for 9 days and had to get rid of it. It dropped calls, went into analog limbo, and had a wildly fluctuating signal pretty much all over midtown Manhattan and central NJ. I thought it may have been a bad handset, but there have been a lot of complaints regarding RF issues (as admitted in calls to LG tech support and VZW customer service). Its pretty disheartening to begin to see similar issues (except for the analog) starting to be reported with the 8000.

To those who for some reason have their egos tied inextricably to LG, save the venom - no matter how many toys it has and what the wow factor may be, it needs to function as a phone first. Buy what you like, but after getting burned b...

The fluctuating signal that is being reported on this model is simply because it is using the new network. There will be bugs in a new network that need to be worked out. It is by no means as strong as the existing network.

When the phone is operating on the 1xRTT network, the signal is steady and strong.

I suspect that these problems can not be due to the handset itself. (just my opinion, though, as I am no expert)

Yeah I thought network too, but I am no where near a new network. We will probably be one of the last we are so far behind times here. When I got to work I compared it to another LG 8000 and there were many many differences...I thought the camera was good on the bad phone and it was even better on the new one i traded it out for. Hopefully I got the only bad one.

Not exactly sure why you guys are getting dropped calls. I have had tthis phone for 4 months and still havent had an ounce of trouble besides the fact the highest camera settings a little buggy. But like some of you said. It is a new network and of course needs to be debugged. Give it a little time. It will settle.
