A Ringers Question

v.a.m.66

Feb 2, 2005, 6:19 PM
Hello

This is my first time posting. I've been on this site for quite a while, prob. since last June. The phone I have now is the v710 and this is the place where I learned about it.

Well let me cut to the chase here, I hate my v710, so I'm thinking of buying either the 8000 or the 8940. I was leaning towards the 8940 only because of the miniSD so I can put my own ringers on it instead of getting raped by vzw's getitnow. But now it turns out that vzw crippled the miniSD on the Aud. So my question is (finally right?) if I purchase the 8000 and a data cable for the 7000 or 6100, can I use it to download ringers onto the 8000?

I'm sure that this probably has been covered and answered on here already but I'm pretty new to this. Any hel...

From what I am hearing, yes, you will be able to. There is also a feature on the 8000 where you can create your own ringers.

The USB cable for the 7000 supposedly will work but I have not tried it so I cannot say for sure.

yes this works...100% you can transfer mp3's to the phone for use in the mp4 player, but you cant use the mp3's for ringtones. BUT you can change your mp3's into small compressed mono midi files and put them on the phone with the data cable. i also have removed pictures and video with the data cable. and yes its the 7000 data cable, which i got on ebay for 5 bux, and it also came with a car charger, and travel charger....BAD SIDE NOTE, the free car and travel charger dont work because i guess the test market 8000's had a differant port on the bottom that you could charge the phone with. a small round hole, this hole is missing on the retail 8000!

hope this helped!

Thanks a lot guys. Well, it looks like I'll have to play with it when I buy it this weekend. I have another question, it really has nothing to do with this but if I buy this phone retail will vzw give me that 15 days trial just incase I don't like the phone and I want to get another one?

FYI the policy has changed to 30 days to try/return a new phone since that's that standard for all wireless companys. At least that's what the verzion rep told me yesterday.

Are you sure about the 30 days return policy??? I just check VZW's website regarding return policy, and it's still showing 15 days. 😡
