Memory Discrepancy - Verizon Rips Off Customers Again

I just got off the phone with VZW Customer service and also with LG Customer Service (was referred there by VZW). I was questioning the amount of memory on this phone, as LG's website states that there is 128MB Flash Memory and I can only find 52.28MB on the phone.

VZW told me that there is only supposed to be 40MB on the phone. At that point I told them that they had to be incorrect as I was finding more than that without their help. They then checked phonescoop.com as well as LG's website and they cited that it was "shared flash memory" and that I would not have access to the majority of that. We all know that is a load of BS. I called them on that and they referred me to LG immediately.

In speaking with LG Customer Service,...

That would be if you could do anything with that USB cable. Verizon is saying that the USB file transfer function is disabled in the phone.

I am feeling you, I have had the phone but when it was issued, no one knew anything about it and mine has 64 md. I didnt think they would be doing more memory then that. I also had a v710 and I hated it 😛

Yeah, but the problem here is that LG is telling me that there is 128MB in the phone. So where is the rest of it?

Gotta love VZW!!! The only company that refuses to let their customers have fully functional phones.

I believe in this instance LG is wrong. They wouldnt manufacture two different versions of the phone with different memory.

That begs the question: Why does their (LG's) website advertise 128MB? and phonescoop.com states 128 as well.

Well, mine is not even showing a total of 64. All I can find availiable is 52.28MB. And the only place I can find to show total memory available is in the get it now menus. Is there another place that I could see how much memory is on the phone?

What's the big deal on how much memory it says it has? Have you filled yours up yet? That's a lot of ringtones and songs!! Try it, it is quite a lot regardless of what it says!

If you want more memory, then the Audiovox 8940 would be the phone to get, it has unlimited memory with the removable mini SD card, plus it is a lot smaller phone with a nice big bright screen.

To answer your direct question, no I have not filled up my memory yet. But it is quite a discrepancy in stated amount vs. actual amount. And 52MB is not much memory when you want to put MP3's on it. On average, a full length MP3 takes up 4-5MB which means that I only have room for 10 songs. And that is if I do not have ANYTHING else on the phone at all.

And the 8940 would not work for more memory for the mp3 purpose as you cannot play the mp3's from the mini SD card. Files (mp3's) that I would put on the SD card from my computer would not be able to be read by the phone as Verizon has blocked this capability.

Overall, I am not complaining about the 8000 as I love the phone, I am just stating that it is entirely possible (accordi...

It is in the Get It Now menu in the info part.

Go into Get it now, then use the right soft key to access the info. It will be in there under 2 headings: Application Memory and Contents Memory
