Well, I picked up my VX-8000 on the 1st. Yes, I was there when the store opened. đ Anyway, I LOVE this phone! Yes, it's definitely bigger than the 7000. But I had a Kyocera 2135, which really looked like a brick compared to the newer flip phones. So, it wasn't too much of a shock to me. My advice - try it out and decide for yourself if you can live with it.
ANYWAY - I get the phone home, trying everything out (except the VCast - didn't try that until today). Then I notice that the TIME is wrong! In in NJ, so ET zone. My phone says it's 5 hours earlier, and I don't see a way to change it! I call Customer Service (nice guy, but had never heard of the 8000 - what?!). They put me in touch with a techie who basically says can...

I'm from Delaware and my time was correct. The person that gave me the phone set the clock when she activated it.

Thanks, mikejaret and jeny01. They said they said my time zone correctly - whatever my problem is, it's at least store-wide. đ¤Ŗ But I'd prefer not to have a problem at all, of course!

Time is OK on mine, in NJ

I think the issue doesn't lie in the phone but the verizon service and tower in your area. That's why your phone and the display phone has the same problem. If other verizon phones didn't have problems in your area with the time the cause is probably because it could be an EVDO and or Vcast issue.

Thanks. I think I need to keep checking things out some more and see if I can find a pattern, or area of service, etc. I drove about 40 minutes outside of my local area this morning before I turned on my phone. The phone rang as soon as I turned it on, and I answered it. When I hung up, I noticed that it was the correct time. It stayed that way until I got back to my local area (about 30 minutes!). Then it switched to the 5 hours earlier time. I wasn't driving on the way home, so was playing with my phone. Only other thing I did as we were driving back was play around with URLs (VCast - no EV-DO in my area, yet). Just coincidence that the time took that long to switch, or maybe cell tower related, or ??? Hmmmm......

I bought my phone yesterday in Midtown manhattan, when I got home in Central NJ I noticed the same thing the time was 5 hours earlier!!!!, when I went on to get it now, or internet, it picked up the correct time but after a few seconds it would change back. This morning I called LG, they told me it has to be a tower issue, there phone has no way of setting the time, it is set from VZW tower.
SOOO I called VZW and spoke with various techs Tier 2 i think. They said It might be them , because they were doing upgrades on the vcast system. The tech gave me her phone number and extention, she said if it happened again to call her. So far today it is correct, but I am working in Manhattan. We will see tonight when I go home to NJ. At least Im not ...

I'm thinking a tower problem, or maybe a combination tower problem and something else. Had to drive back to the other area today. Checked the phone - local time was correct. Stayed a couple of hours this time (dinner, etc.). Time was correct THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS THERE. Drove home. Was here about 10 minutes - then POOF! - time flips back to 5 hours earlier. Then I used VCast/Get It Now menus (same as you) - time switches to CORRECT local time, again. A few minutes after I Exit, yup - 5 hours earlier. đ I'm calling the local VZW store AND Customer Service tomorrow!

Spoke with VZW in the monmouth Mall last night, figured they should be having the problem also , since I am one exit away from them and they DO!!! they told me they are aware of the problem, it was a tower problem, and should be fixed in a couple of days. well see...
...
Well, guess where I got my phone? đ I talked to the guys at Monmouth Mall this morning, and they said the same thing - aware of the issue, tower problem in Monmouth County, should be fixed in a couple of days. I told them it was definitely NOT all of Monmouth County, but probably specific to a couple of towers, and asked if they knew specifically which ones were affected. No - not yet - still trying to figure that out.
We're getting closer! đ
...
I called Customer Service over the weekend, and they said they knew NOTHING about this problem and there were no open calls about it(and that was from a tech). So, how can they fix something they know nothing about? Tonight, I go back to Monmouth Mall to "crab" a little. đ After some bantering, they basically say wait a couple more days. On the way home, the phone switches to local time! And the time has not changed - it's been about 3-1/2 hours. Is it really fixed??? đ (And, no, I'm not holding my breath just yet....)
Hope this is working for you, too, and it's a PERMANENT fix!
...
DISREGARD. âšī¸ Two minutes after I sent my message, the clock strikes midnight. POOF! The time is now ***7*** hours off!!! In the next MINUTE, I see it switch from 5 hours earlier to local time - 3 times! Suffice it to say that "they're working on it". đ¤Ŗ Sorry for jumping the gun....
