Alert problem?

I had the 6000 before the 8000 and i loved it,i had it set up for when i received a voice mail or text and didnt here phone go off because i left phone in house while i was out working in garage all ihad to do was walk by phone and see if front screen was lit up,and then i would know if i had a call or text. The 8000 doesnt seem to do anything like that. The 6000 you could set front screen to stay on after use for 3 minutes which was good because message alert was set for 2 minutes and that kept the phone lit up all the time so i wouldnt have to actually pick it up and check it. I miss that feature,does any one have the solution or have i just not figured out how to do it on the 8000? Maybe LG made it this way to prolong battery life which I...

I think the longest you can make the front display stay on for is 30 seconds. This is most likely due to prolonging battery life. And keep in mind, your 6000 did not have a color front display. The 8000 does. That will use more battery power than the front display on the 6000.
