Tested 8000 evdo speeds, using as modem for laptop
On speedtest website my speed was 554.4 kilobits per second
On cnet, my speed was 596.1 kbps
This was using the 8000 as a modem connected to my laptop (powerbook g4) by a usb cord.

Was wondering whatusb cord you used and where to get it,also do you need a cd program to make it work. Thanks Dirk

I bought the mobile office kit at verizon for the lg 7000 and 6100. The kit came with the cord which fits the 8000 perfectly and the cd drivers. Since I have a mac, I don't need the drivers, since they are built into the operating system. All I needed was the usb cord and I was ready to go. I use bitpim to retrieve my pics and videos and place mp3's on the phone. I use the Mac OSX internet connect to use the phone as a modem. Hope this helps

I was wondering what phone you selected in bitpim? I have windows XP SP2 so it would be a different config. Has anyone with XP been able to tranfer MP3's yet? If so let us know :-)

I selected the 7000, and my com port was on auto. Your need to view the file system and transfer everything that way. The wallpaper, ringtones and contacts part of bitpim won't work until they come out with the update for the 8000.

Are you doing this with a data plan, or are you able to do it without one (i.e. Verizon thinks you're just transfering pictures, etc. at the higher EV-DO speed)
