Phone reception - digital versus trimod

I purchased the LG VX8000 and have noticed that the signal strength is less than my last phone the MOT V60. I called Verizon and they said that the trimod reception for the V60 is in more locations therefore offers stronger signal strength than the digital signal of the VX8000. Has anyone had signal strength problems? I live in Chicago.

I notice the LGs don't hold as good a of signal as moto. In my case, I returned the 6100 and got the v265 because of reception issues in my area with the LG. the moto v265 performed much better for me.

Actually I have noticed better signal strength with my phone and I live on the base of a mountain. My calls are so much clearer I just absolutely love this phone. Also my old phone was a Motorola T730 and I would never go back.
