Getting ringtones from Walmart works GREAT! Just download them and change .mp3 to .mid and email to the 8000 as an attachment.

Free free free! 🙂

When you email the ringers to yourself, does it come through as a pic message? if so that's .25 per receive i think.

Yes, it is an incoming message for .25 cents. I was just happy not to have to pay a couple bucks to download them from GIN. Plus I have a picture package, so that helps.

Just goto Walmart's site, goto Music, and pick an album. Just about every album has 30 second sample clips that you can preview. I just used those.

How do you go about emailing the files to your cellphone. I've tried to do it my mobile #@vzwpix.com and try to send it as a mp3 and a midi file but I am unable to retrieve the attachment. Can someone please walk me through the process?

I dont know if you all know about this 30 sec mp3 free music clip trick or not, but here it is. I can not take credit for this, I actually found it on another forum and think its worth spreading.
For free 30 sec mp3 music:
-Go to Walmart.com, search under Music, do any kind of specific search like sound effects or broad search like rock.
-Click on any album and scroll down, walmart allows you to listen to 30 seconds of almost every song on every album.
-To listen first just left click on the side on the song where it says "mp3 audio" winamp will pop up and allow you to hear it.
-If you like it tha...

It worked on my 8940. Everyone keep in mind that you aren't limited to Walmart.com. You can use any mp3 and change it to .mid and email it to your phone. The possibilities are limitless where you can find sources.
However, if you straight convert an mp3 to mid, your phone will try to play the entire frequency range of the tune, and it doesn't sound that good (at least on my 8940). The low frequencies just aren't there...it sounds tinny. True polyphonic ring tones sound better because they are designed to only be played in the frequency range that the speakers in the phones can reproduce.
Somebody should create software to convert mp3's to be played on cell phone speakers and enhance and compensate the frequencies to sound good.
Any other ...
