Why Full Retail?
I don't get it ... any time I've ever wanted a new phone before my NE2 or prior to my contract running out, all I've done is signed a new contract and they've given me all the promotional deals available.
Are you guys/gals only paying full retail because you don't want to extend your contract? Or have I just been lucky in getting a flexible sales rep?
Thanks
Chimpy

You can only sign a new contract when 22 of the 24 months are up. They sometimes bend the rules for prefered customers. I think it is 10/12 months, but not too sure for one year contracts.
People like myself pay full retail to avoid being bound to a contract and/or because it hasn't been 22/24 months yet.

You do an upgrade at 22 months on a 2yr or 10 months on a 1yr. Verizon will most of the time allow you to do an early upgrade if you're on a 2yr as long as you've had your phone for a 1yr. The catch to doing an early upgrade is you have to renew for 2 more years and you forfeit your new every two at that time.
Dave covered the reason people pay retail pretty good.

I kind of figured people were paying full retail because they didn't want to sign a new contract. I've never minded signing a new contract, I've been with VZW since '98 and have no plans on going anywhere (I've even given my VZW phone to friends while on a Nextel plan for a year and was soooo happy to come back to VZW!).
I just changed my plan to the 39.99/450 (had the 400) signed a new contract - didn't get a phone though, I'm not in love w/any of the new ones and my NE2 is up in August anyway I figure maybe by then they'll have something new out that I'll like.

Maybe some VZW stores are different but i signed for another 2 years and only got thirty dollars knocked off the retail price. Been withVZW for over 4 years now.

It depends on the phone. You probably got 30-50 knocked off the 1yr price if you signed a 2yr not the retail price.
