I upgraded from a vx 4400 to the 8000 and a disappointing part of the phone is that the front display goes completely dark after a few seconds...it stays bright for a few seconds, then dims then goes completely dark. Does anyone know if there is a way to keep it lit (but slightly dimmed) at all times?

The 8000 has a high resolution color display and requires back lighting to display enough contrast. Most all new color cell phones are that way now. The 4400 was only a 7 color low resolution display. If the back lighting on the 8000 was on all the time, the battery would be quickly drained! ☹️

i haven't heard anything on how to keep it slightly dimmed, but its not a big deal to me. you can change the amount of seconds the front display stays brightly lit. i don't mind the screen going dark...hey, it will save battery life, which apparently is a big issue for some users.

I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I was little dissappointed too because with my 4400, I stopped wearing a watch. I didn't need to since the display always showed the time.

However, I have leared to adapt. You just hit any button (I usually hit the round one on the front) and the display lights up. It's a much cooler display being hi-res so I don't mind the trade off.
