Reception VX8000 vs. V710?

While everyone likes to knock the Moto V710 I have never owned a phone that got a better signal especially in fringe or borderline type areas. My question is simple: Can anyone out there that has used both the V710 and the VX8000 compare the signal strength? I need a second phone and I'm trying to decide between another V710 or the VX8000. The VX8000 sounds cool with all its functions but the number one priority for me is being able to receive calls and not have them dropped, the V710 has been outstanding in that department. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My V710 never dropped calls. My 8000 has dropped lots of calls. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the new EVDO that Verizon set up. I plan on taking it in tomorrow to see if it is the phone, or the service. Anyway, the V710's reception is great.

My friend has the V710 and he hasn't had a problem with it. I have the VX8000 and, again, no problem. I do have "dead" zones in my neighborhood. At my friends house (3mi away) my phone goes in to roaming mode.

I have both the 8000 and 710 currently and have noticed that the 710 gets far better reception then the 8000. Which is a bummer cause I really like the 8000 much better.

you know what. it's more a LG vs Moto in general when it comes to reception. THis is true with other LG and moto models also. I've experienced it with the lower models of both models. LGs tend to drop more calls than the moto. It doesn't matter what model of LG model you get, it won't hold signal better than a moto, period.
