Send it as a pix message. It costs 25 cents per message. Unless you have purchased the 20, 50, etc pix messages per month service.
Be sure you are using a fairly current email client, or just use one of the various online email sites like yahoo. I have found that the phone has trouble recieving email attachments sent from older clients. This could be the source of a number of people's issues with this technique.

I also wanted to also some ringones to my phone as email attachments. I contacted Verizon who confirmed that there are NO individual charges except for the airtime used to download the ringtone.
