The T637's arrived in my store in San Antonio, TX today. Got about 10 I believe...so other stores should either have them or be getting them very shortly...

Well, my first impression is that this thing is pretty dang sweet. Haven't stuck my SIM card in it yet, just letting it charge while messing with all the features. So, very good so far...
And no, you don't HAVE to sign a new agreement to get a new phone. If you are eligable for an upgrade and you sign a new agreement you do get a discount in the phone though.

Thanks for the info. I've had att for almost 2 years now and I wasn't sure if I'd be sticking around after my contract was up... This phone seriously has me thinking about staying with att... the only think I really don't like about att is the text messaging... even if you pay monthly for it you still have to pay for messages sent out, I haven't seen another company that does that....

the last time I got a phone is when we got our family plan contract... I have a nokia 3360 and it wasn't a bad phone when I got it, but its really just getting old...
I don't text often because I get in trouble when the monthly bill comes âšī¸
also, I noticed that att doesn't offer 5 member family plans anymore... We have 5 on our plan now, if we renew our contract (or sign a new one) will we still be able to have 5 phones?

Yeah, you should be set for an upgrade discount. If you want, e-mail me your phone # to [email protected] and I'll check in our systems for you.
Also, to answer your other question, yes, you can still have 5 phones. You should actually be able to get a much better deal now, as we have some great plans at the moment.

By the way, I have been using the phone now most of the day and the battery life seems to be doing pretty good. Also the call clarity is very good and so is the reception.
Will do some more "extensive" testing during the next week. Also going out of town on business, so I will be able to test it in a few different areas.

Im on Month to month TDMA and am looking to LNP to Cingular for this phone for $99...
ATT wants $200 after $70 off. What gives?
ATT CS offered 550 min for $39 on new GSM plan but $220 for the phone on a 1 year extenstion?
Cingular 450 roll over with the $99 dollar for the phone seems like a much better deal////Same network soon to be all Cingular!!!
What am I missing?
BTW does this phone record conversations?

I was thinking the same thing. I sent an email to our AT&T Wireless business rep asking how much it would be for me to upgrade. Haven't heard anything back yet but I would think AT&T and Cingular would have similar deals. I don't think I'd pay more than $150.00 for any cell phone period.

I can see your concern about the pricing situation. I do believe we have a $50 rebate coming on the T637 soon. Also, we have a $50 off instant promo online right now as well.
The deal they offered you on a $39.99 GSM plan is pretty nice. Especially for only a 1-year extension. What you SHOULD to is call customer care and tell them the only reason you are going to switch/cancel is because of the phone price. They should have NO problem matching Cingular's price on the phone.
Also, its probably best to stay w/ AT&T for now anyhow seeing as how our GSM coverage is quite a bit better.

Gotta somewhat disagree with u on the coverage issue attguy...in this part of the country(Mississippi/Alabama) Cingular GSM coverage is much better but unfortunately it is not nearly as good as the Cingular TDMA coverage i have now...but if i want the good TDMA coverage im stuck with a low end crappy phone....u would think they could offer some of the nice phones with MultiNetwork capability so u could get great coverage.
