Why doesn't this phone have bluetooth????
Where's the bluetooth? Is there a reason? I mean the V600 had it, so does the T616, etc..

I agree. Without bluetooth, as far as I'm concerned, this phone is useless. Why design a phone as great as this and leave out one of the most important features.
I was all ready to buy this phone, when it becomes available, but without the bluetooth, it is now off my list of possibilities.

This phone targets a certain audience. The marketing developing team felt that bluetooth wasn't a necessity. You have to think of cost as well. Adding bluetooth/IR would put this phone at a SRP of about $250-$300. What phone would you buy a flip phone with VGA camera, 15 second video clap, EDGE, Instant Messaging (carrier based) for less then $200 bucks or the same product but add bluetooth and IR for $300? possibly even higher then that. The marketing team at Sony Ericsson knows what they are doing. Oh plus this phone has a 3D gaming engine in it that runs a few games built specifically for SE. If you've played Splinter Cell Pandora's box you notice that the phones on there are Sony Ericsson phones. Splinter cell has a contract or something...

I would pay the extra $ for the bluetooth. Besides, I doubt this phone will be under $200. They should have a Z500b with the addition of bluetooth.

WHY DO YOU QUESTION MY AUTHORITY!!!! 😛 It is under $200 this is from the mouth of the man that decides these things 😉 Not saying I'm that person but Im in direct contact with him 😉 This phone is targeted for the younger group age 16-25 I believe. I am with you though I think it needs bluetooth, but the target market doesn't need it therefore wont have it because people that age usually don't have the money for that type of phone.

They have there catagorizing (the letters at the end) done buy the bands they have i international a. The Z500a is a transitional phone into the new EDGE network. You'll eventually see a phone that runs on EDGE has all these features plus bluetooth. Just gotta wait.

But I am a man of little patience! 🙂 . Will look at other phones. Motorola has a couple that are very nice. None with EDGE though, but that is not that important to me.

I have a v551. I just got it today... It's OK i guess. I liked my t616 alot more and how the bluetooth worked on it.

Bluetooth connects everything from earpieces/headset, your pc, whether its a laptop or desktop, printers to other bluetooth devices, such as your phone and it's done wirelessly and has about a 30foot range, but that may be stretching it to its limits..20 feet would be a great call..so you put an earpiece over your ear and walk around and talk on your phone thats in the kitchen on the charger..or you send picture to/from your computer via bluetooth while you are sitting on the couch watching tv..or you connect your laptop to the GPRS/EDGE modem in your phone and surf the web on your laptop, with no wires involved..has this help clear it up any? But you can get it from 1800mobile phones or from from mobile. it's less than $400, i believe and it's unlocked.

I'm pretty sure this phone doesn't have bluetooth. It doesn't say anything about it on the Sony Ericsson site. As far as I know, it only has infared.

this phone will be released for sure the first part of october. se reps were in cingular yesterday.. this phone is looking to be around 300$ and with bluetooth/ir im disapointed.. this phone is top notch but without that i might have to wait for motorolas razr..

Anywho.....the phone won't be released til late mid October to the end of October. Pricing will be between $150-$200 Doesn't need bluetooth because it's not targeted for that market, if you'd read the other replies I've posted you'd understand why. 🙄

BLuetooth was left off to keep it affordable for a younger customers. And even old guys like me that don't really need it !!! I like the speakerphone better, and, I don't mind using a cable.
