Overall, I like this phone and I’m pretty sure I will keep it unless something drastic happened between now and when my 15 days are up. So far, the reception has been very good, I have no problem getting good signal at my desk, and I like to compare this or any other phones with my work cell phone (Nextel) since I have no service just about anywhere (including standing right under a Nextel tower), the real test will be when I travel to an analog area (which is quite a few in Missouri). How does the service indicator light function? Is it like the VX-7000?

Since I'm not interested in the 7000 because it's an all digital phone, I didn't do very much research on that phone. I assumed you mean there's a LED on the top edge of phone that will flash green if you have signal or red if you have no signal? If that's the case, there is no service indicator light on the 6100.
From looking at the phones internal pictures from the FCC document there seems to be a light underneath the plastic next to the camera lens on the right. I'm not talking about the flash which is on the left side of the camera lense. What does that other light do???
