Headset use - speakerphone always activates
Kurts

I've been trying to use my 6100 with a headset. In driving mode, when receiving a call, the speakerphone activates and you hear the call announced thought that rather than through the headset. I'd think that the phone should know that if the headset is plugged in, to route all sounds through the headset - "incoming call from --- do you want to answer" is worthless coming through the speakerphone when the headset is plugged in. I can understand it if the headset wasn't plugged in but the phone doesn't seem to know the difference. As it stands, anytime the phone rings and the headset is plugged in, driving mode or not, I have to get out the phone and open it to answer the call.
Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much?

Are you saying that when the speakerphone is turned off and the ear piece is installed the speaker phone activates.

Wow. I just tried that. It's really, really stupid.
With the headset on, and driving mode off, I can't seem to answer the phone without opening it.
With the headset on and driving mode on, the speaker is the one that announces the call. Though it shifts to the headset if you do tell it to answer. And as best I can tell it does "listen" thru the headset and not the built in speaker.
What I find fascinating is if you turn driving mode on, then explicitly turn speaker off, it still announces thru the speaker BUT if you answer or hang up, it leaves the speaker off.
I'm also really surprised there is no way to answer a call with the headset (not in driving mode) on without opening the handset -- is that true? None of the side but...
