after 1 week with the 6100...my experience...

well, i've had this thing for a week now, and i was expecting the very worst as far as dropped calls. i have traveled extensively in PA, NY, and NJ, and have spent a good chunk of each day on the phone while driving (at least a couple of hours a day over the past 2 days in particular). this phone hasn't dropped a single call yet. it is so strange to me how the same phone can perform so differently for different people!

that said, the call quality leaves a lot to be desired. there is often a persistant static hiss. sometimes there will be an echo. sometimes there will be this background hiss that you hear only after after you say something into the phone. pretty annoying, but not enough to drive me crazy like the voice feedback problem the E815 has.

so the long and the short of it is, i wouldn't call the call quality crystal clear. however, the vast majority of the time, it is definitely good enough. and i'm probably overly sensitive to that kind of thing anyway.

what else...the battery is very good. the software and features are great. very intuitive. the speakerphone is average or below. the headset that comes with it works well, which actually surprised me a bit. i was expecting the worst there too. the highest ringer setting isn't nearly loud enough. the camera is okay...whatever...wasn't really a main selling point for me anyway. the phone is very sturdy and not too big. i also thnink the ear hole is places better than some phones...like the E815.

i'm going to keep this phone over the 815; although i really liked the 815 phone and i do believe it is probably a better overall phone. but unlike the 6100, it doesn't have the advantage of several software releases/ patches which have addressed earlier issues. the 815 just hasn't been out long enough and stuff is sure to pop up. but ultimately, that whole deal with the echoey, subtle voice feedback thing that all 815's have was the only reason why i even tried the 6100. and i think the 6100 is good enough, and more time tested, so it is definitely a viable alternative to the 815 if the voice feedback thing drives you nuts.
