New User, 2 questions re: BT and GPRS

I just bought my phone yesterday. Overall, very pleased with functionality...

Two questions, your help is appreciated:

1) I've paired by phone with a BT headset (Motorola). It works great, as long as I set the phone's BT setting to "ON" or "DISCOVER". Do I have to have BT on to get the wireless headset to work? I'm wondering of there is a way to program a hotkey or shortcut to enable BT on the phone, so I don't have to go through the multiple keys to enable BT everytime I want to use the wireless headset.

2) When I open Internet Explorer, everything works fine. I get a small icon in the upper-right corner of the screen (where the signal strength is) that also shows a small letter "g". The manual says the "g" means that the GPRS session is ACTIVE. When I press the "END CALL" key, I assumed this would end the GPRS session, since it DOES close IE and sends me to the Home screen. The small "g" remains next to the signal bar. Is my GPRS session still active? If so, how to I turn it off, or is there a better way top end my IE web browsing sessions?

Again, thank you in advance!
