Battery Life (AGAIN)
So, I charged my phone all day yesterday. I look it off the charger at 2pm when it said "Charge complete".
23 hours later, it was completely dead. I didn't even talk on it at all!! Now, that's not necessarily how long it lasted. Probably around 10pm last night the phone started doing the beep 'o death.
I have gotten a new battery. Now I have a "new" charger (it's been used..mine was scratch free!). Next step is to replace the phone completely. Anyone else having this problem? 9.4 days of standby is a JOKE. I'm getting less than 24 hours!! So, before I go changing my phone, I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing exceptionally short battery life.

I unplug mine in the morning, and if I dont come back to my place im screwed. It wont make it through the night. So also 24 hrs, but I talk on it a fair amount (but not a ton, I doubt I ever spend more then an hour or so combined on my phone in any given day). Thats really crappy IMO. Otherwise its a great phone.

Haha...no, it's not sad. đ I am a "grown-up" and I do have a home phone that sees more than enough use. đ I don't have any teeny-bopper friends that call to see what flavor of bubble gum I'm chewing. So, my phone gets used for semi serious, semi important issues rather than for gabfests. Which is why it's REALLY pissing me off that I get less than 24 hours of use out of it. If i talked on it all the time, I'd expect it to randomly die. Since I usually only use it when I really need it, it makes me mad that it's dead when I need it...

Why is it that the battery life seems to vary so much on the same model of phone? One person will say their v551 lasts 3 days with use and another will say theirs lasts only 1 day with no use. Is Moto making them with that much variance? Is it a battery issue? They should check into that! I read somewhere they had fixed the battery problem the v400 had with the v551. I hope so! I should get my v551 in the mail later this week to replace my v400.

Whether or not Bluetooth is turned on make a huge difference in Battery life. With BT on, I get less than a day, but with BT turned off I can usually get two days on a charge.

I know this is an old post so not sure if you ever got it resolved. I just received my second V551 replacement (the first one had the speakerphone crap out on me) and this one had the White Screen and 24 hour battery life. After doing the various types of resets on their phone repair line, he asked for one of the ID numbers off the back of my phone and confirmed that it's part of a batch of phones with known battery life issues. So if you haven't already replaced it, you should probably do so as I don't think there are any user-side fixes.

Normally, I get 2 days with about 60 to 80 minutes of talk per day. However,When I was in Florida last week, I would barely get 24 hours.

I read in another forum that some of the v551s are lighting up even when closed. Depending on how much this happens it could be a serious drain on the battery.
The work around was to set the display timeout to 'off'. The display is always active when the phone is open, but this is likely less of a drain than having it come on frequently when closed. This setting is in the Initial Setup page of Settings.
Let us know if this helps. It seemed to work for folks in the other forum (I was forum hopping last night so I don't know exactly where I read this).

I agree this seems to work for me. I tried it two or three days ago, and I haven't noticed my display staying on when I close the flip. Battery life seems much improved. Good heads up!!!

i tried this and it didnt work for me, i switched from the V220 to the 551, i definantly had alot more battery life on my 220. why is it that this phone that boasts that it has a battery life comparable with the razr's life when it actually only gets about a day max, does anyone with the razr get bad battery life.
