V557 initial impressions

I've had the v557 for about a week now and I am fairly satisfied. I had the v551 and v400 before this so I have seen all of the improvements. As someone mentioned, the loud BLEEP sound when pressing the outside buttons with the flip closed are now gone!! One negative is that the vibration is weaker on this model. Several other people on the Howard Forums have reported the same issue. Earpiece volume is satisfactory, but even louder would be better for noisy situations. There is now an option to search for a name in your phonebook by typing in more than one letter then hitting find, instead of only getting to the first letter then having to scroll down. It also has a "Software Update" option for those interested. Still a wait-and-see on how/if that actually works. Live media ticker is a neat option, but updates are few and far between. It does have a graphic of the related story which is small, but surprisingly clear. Somewhat weird to open your phone and instantly see the mug shot of the 1000th person set to be executed in the U.S., but Live Ticker can be turned off too. With live ticker active personalization of the home screen is limited. The left soft key, middle navigation key and right nav key are locked to the Ticker when active. When you have more than one voicemail the outside screen mysteriously bumps the word "Voicemail" and only says "2 New" Instead of "2 New Voicemails". Reception is fine, and I have yet to have a dropped call. I do live in a good service area, so your results may vary. Camera now has a countdown of number of pics in terms of memory left to take. Same with videos. Pics start at 100, and videos start at 16. I am still tinkering around. Not really into the games part, but other people are reporting that apps like Google Local and Opera Mini which worked fine on the v551 are not going smoothly on the 557. More later.
