that phone will probably never reach our shores, as there is no market here for it. there have been 2megapixel (samsung comes to mind) phones in europe since the summer, asia for probably a year, they simply dont have the market they do in other countries. there is no reason to bring a 5mp camera phone to a country that just hit 1mp a few months ago. whoever wrote that post, to me at least, sounds like a salesman, and a foreign one at that (sounded kinda asian in sentence structure).

Hey I hate to burst your bubble but there is usually at LEAST a one or two year lag in cell phone technology between Japan and Korea and the reast of the world. Japan's first megapixel camera came out a year and a half ago, their first mp3 phone came out two years ago, and video phones about a year ago. If that phone ever comes to the US it will be at the VERY least one year from now, even though that's never gonna happen...like NotJoelShapiro there isn't a market. And you said once the 5mp cameras come to the US the 2,3, and 4 mp phones "can't hit in US market anymore". How does that make sense? Dude, you obviously know jack about marketing and how Asian innovations come here way after introduction in Asia. If we go straight to 5 megapixel phones, then all the money that went into developing all the previous technologies can't be recovered. Don't you think that SE is making enough s710's to flood the US right now? (Your answer should be yes.) If they come out with a 5 megapixel 6 months after, then they'll cannibalize the market, leaving all the "old" s710s on the shelf, and LOSE MONEY. 1 megapixel cameras will be sold here until we get tired of them and the companies start plans to produce them for sale in the US.
So go watch 7th Heaven, My Wife and Kids, or whatever translated show in whateve...

One of the reasons new technology from Asia is so slow to establish itself in the U.S. is obvious just from reading these posts. The language barrier creates a lot of confusion. philipkc is now arguing against points he clearly did not understand. Another reason U.S. technology is so far behind is because most Americans are not nearly as passionate about it as Asians are. How many Americans do you know who still use an old VCR with 12:00 flashing on the screen because they never bothered to learn how to set the time?

I don't, however, type huge paragraphs of Engrish style English to try to argue a point that makes no sense in a language I have no proficiency in. thats becuase theres alot of ill informed americans who are ignorant about junk stuff and just go for the cheep stuff that is over priced. making the demand for hi-quality phones low, and carriers dont want to gamble with there chances of releasing expensive phones, beside we have all theses rules and divisions to go through just to release a stupid phone

This doesn't make any sense. Why would a 5mp phone be coming out in a few months when we're barely getting 1.3. Just like with digital cameras, they came out with 1 then 2 and 3 then 3.2......GRADUALLY into 5 6 and 7mp (maybe more now.) but the point is gradual! Samsung went all out and made the 5mp phone for the asian market, that doesn't mean US will be releasing it anytime soon. I'd say at least 2 years. We're not gonna go from vga to 1 to 1.3 then boom 5MP!! Just doesn't make any sense. Let's just say for sake of argument that Motorola decides to release a 2MP camera phone, americans would clamor to get that phone, it would be great!...even that won't happen for a while.
