Ok this phone looks great, and its features are also great, most likely i will get this phone, but i was wondering what is an easy way to open it? it looks like you might have to see who is calling on the screen and then turn it around to open it? sorry i am very confused, anyone know how it might open, or at least an easy way to open it?
...
You don't need to open it in order to take a call. You only need to open it if you need to access the keypad (dialing a number or texting for example), past that the phone can stay closed.
You can access all of your contacts with the directional pad and everything else pretty much can be done with the phone being closed.
I hope this helps.

wow, that is so cool, i tell ya technology these days! i am also wonder, do u think the 399 is worth it or not?
...
Yes, I do think its more than worth it. This phone has it all, I mean yes of course there are certain negative things about it. But I think its way worth.
...
i think this phone is great and all, but i dont know about the design, its soo cool that you can answer it while closed, but what if i want to open it, there really is no easy way, its almost like you are going out of your way to open it. i dont knwo i guess it will take some time getting usto, but another thing is dont u think it will be weird opening the phone with two hands?
...
It's possible to open it with one hand if you dont have small hands.
Is like a flip phone though, have to open it too.

Yes, absolutely. It open rather easily, but not so easily to open accidentally.

I'm just worried i'll get ear wax on that pretty screen using it closed! 🙂

Even if you used it open, it'd still have the same effect.
But that's where a Bluetooth headset comes in handy. I just bought ann HBH-660 from Sony Ericsson. I love it so much. It's got a small display for called ID, volume, and battery life. The sound quality is clear, people can hear me great, it's lightweight and looks pretty cool as well. 😁
I use it with a Sony Ericsson T637 😎

If it's on the side of your head, what good is that caller ID display? And if it's not on your head wouldn't it be just as easy to look at the phone?
I agree tho, the headset does look pretty cool so if it works well, i'll definately consider it. I was planning on a bluetooth headset anyway.

Well, unless you're talking to someone, why would it be on your head? I personally wouldnt wear it if I wasn't talking to anyone.
And with caller ID on the headset, I dont have to worry about having my phone out in the open all the time, just my headset which is alot smaller. And my phone can be kept on my waist, in my pocket, or whatever.
Lets say I get a call, I'd rather pull out my he...

Oh come now...if I had a bluetooth headset, i'd wear it all day long so I could look like someone out of Star Trek and people would all look at me in awe of my 'coolness'.
LOL
...
I have had the HBH 660 for about 2 months..way better than the Moto HS810 (I had it also)
...
But you can only take pictures if it is closed 😕
...
I think you can take pictures with it either way, closed or open.
...
Well, taking pictures with it closed is the important things, isnt it? To me it is at least.

It absolutely will take pictures while closed. 🙂

How did we get on the subject of bluetooth?lol i just dont get it, the whole swivel to the side design. if you can picture the phone, like in most photos when closed and the buttons ,like call and end call are on the bottem of the phone, but when you open it, the spring is where those buttons are, so bassically you have to turn the whole phone around just to open it? sorry if my forum is hard to understand, im just really confused.
...
Yes, the back piece of the phone where the camera is located, you have to turn it 180 degrees in order to access the keypad. In all honesty, its not as bad as it may sound or seem.
...
Agreed, I don't think it will be a big deal - I can't wait until Cingular at least has a demo out so everyone can go play with them. Then we'll all see how easy/not the swivel design is.
...
Ive already played around with my friends S700i, its really not bad at all. The swivel mechanism is very solid, doesnt open accidently, is easily capable of being opened with one hand, as long as you dont have small hands. Though my hands are smaller than the average males, I've had no problem opening it and closing it with one hand.
I hope you guys get to play around with one soon, im positive you'll all love the phone. I loved it before I ever handled it, handling it just made me love it all the much more 😁

how is the motorola v710? im just thinking of getting my local service(uscellular) and get the motorola v710a. i dunno, if this phone(sony sricsson s710) worth the wait? but that moto v710 does intregue me. what shold i do?
...
The v710 has awful picture quality. Whenever im talking to my cousin and he's on his V710, his voice sounds slightly hissy. The S710 is worth the wait. Sony Ericsson has a good reputation. Motorola's strategy is to hide the phones crappiness behind good looks (MPx, RAZR) Looks can only hide so much though. (My opinion only).
I would seriously wait for the S710, you wont be disappointed.
...
i dont know the v710 has alot of the same features as the s710a i mean they have 1 meg. camera and a mp3, i guess i really need to think about it, does anyone know what other features the s710 has that the v710 does not have?
...
Yes, they both have a 1 megapixel camera, but megapixels dont mean good image quality. The V710 uses a crappy CMOS image sensor opposed to the S710 which uses a CCD.
Here's a megapixel shootout done by mobile burn between the S710, V710, and some other phone. The S710 hands down wins the megapixel shootout.

wow, that really helps thanks soo much.
...
I am also consitering the Kyocera KOI does that even compair?
...
No way does it compare except in form factor. Past that, comparing the KOI to the S710 is like comparing a Ford Escort (KOI) to a Lamborghini Murcielago (S710a).
...
there is no spring on it, sorry.
...
Who said that it had a spring? 😕
...
Sorry someone had stated that it had a spring(THATS how it opens), sorry maybe next time ill do a little research before beliving someone.
...
no biggy. it is just friction done. the moto's (not in the US) have springs. mobileburn.com has a great review of the s700i (basically same thing as s710a; 900 instead of 850 band, and fm radio instead of EDGE). check it out.
