POS! Haha. Other than the SRT4, i like the 1st gen. neons better than the current generation. More fun to drive w/ a manual trans. They feel more like go-carts.

A friend of mine has a 1994 neon ACR. It was one of the first neons built - it was used to spread the word of Neons for use in autocross. He got it about a year and a half ago with about 7000 miles on it and slicks on the front. The car was LOTS of fun.

They're great 'til you trow a head gasket or a tranny... then you get a first-hand hatred for transaxels

Oh, i hate transaxles...in my Spirit I replaced the trans with a custom built piece from Forward Motion - 3spd auto w/ reverse manual valve body (aka. clutchless 3spd manual). It was such a bitch but is lots of fun now.

I bet that was a pain... my brother and I are trying to convert an '86 Daytona into AWD right now... and thats a bitch and a half. So I sympathize with your plight.

Yeah, it was a pain. but the pleasure was worth it. The car has become quite the sleeper stop light machine. Looks completely stock on the outside but has 2.5 turbo w/ full 3" exhaust, cold air intake, intercooler from a Toyota Supra. I figure it's got close to 300hp at the moment.

The thing is a blast to drive and even more fun anytime it blows the doors of a riced out honda. My area has some REALLY fast rice out there though, but i've been pretty fortunate about the stuff i've run across.

I love eating rice... I never believed in low carb diets anyway.

I drive an "03 Hyundai Tiburon GTV6. It's the funnest car I've ever driven. I am ordering a wide body kit for it this week and then a supercharger that will put me up over 300bhp!!! The 6spd tranny is fun as freak but it's alot of shifting.

i get 220 hp stock from my 2.0 liter turbo'ed saab 9-3. the 6-speed is a blast.

That's why I love my 2.5 turbo dodge. Something about the feeling (and sound) of a turbo. I love that. Those 9-3's are pretty sweet!

i wish it was just a big V6 rather than a 4-banger though. the turbo eats a lot of gas. 50mph in 6th gets me about 43-45mpg though. but city is about 20-22mpg, bad for a 4 banger.

Really? I've been pretty pleased with the mileage I get from my car. Even semi-surprised since it's fairly big for a 4cyl. True though, the turbo does help gas consumption...help use more that is. :-)

there is no standard sized place for aftermarket stuff. plus, would you wanna make that int. ugly from aftermarket ****?

I'm sure if you look around, there's got to be a way to add an aux input to that setup... if not, just rip the stock unit out and jury rig one from the back. I'm sure the unit will support it, even if doesnt have the hardware. Most do.

dude, it isnt analog where you can just stick a cable in it. the system would have to recognize the function, would have to have drivers for an addition mechanism, how the hell would i access it even if i magically added a cable? a magical AUX icon would come up on the display?

If magic is your thing, then yeah. Otherwise, the drivers are usually already there, since most of the software in modern head units is universal. All you'd need to do is find the interface port on the back of the unit and activate the aux port option. The software interface is there, its just not active, because it has no reason to be. This is all just a suggestion for you, you sounded like you wanted the port. My brother is in car audio, so I know a few tricks. Ya dont have to get all touchy. It's your baby and I understand that.

That's cool, I like Saabs alot, mostly because of their styling but good engineering is always a plus.

I too love my car, although I would have preferred an Acura TL, but it was slightly out of my price range. I could have gotten over the 4 doors (not a big fan of sedans). The thing that really caught my eye was the built in Bluetooth.

it was my grandfathers. it sat in my grandmothers back yard for 18 yrs. and my hubby was going to junk it...thought he would see if it would run..he put a battery in it and some gas and it started up. needs work..we are restoring it...but it has sentimental value

I'm with ya now. I think there are going to be some problems getting it to the pavement in a FWD... but it should be interesting. do you do your work yourself, puertorok, or shop it out?

Yeah, definately a major project. Engine, trans, rear end, custom drive shaft. Won't be FWD car anymore tho. I have seen a mustang engine in a focus once before....tight fit to say the least. I didn't get to go over the car and check out the rear end, exhaust or any of that though.

It's going to take some firewall work for the block, I'm pretty sure, upgraded suspension for the additional weight if you want it to handle worth a crap, and a homemade 9 inch rearend to take the output... assuming this engine doesnt remain stock. The custom drive shaft will be easy, but thats about it. I hope you do your own work, 'cause that could get expensive fast.

i wrote that before i got married and had my first born child. at da time i had 20k saved up and it was gonna take me 42k to buy all da parts and get them shipped to my friends garage back in kansas. now im happily married have a wonderful child and living in kissimmee florida. and from that 20k i only have 2k left. 😢 it all went to a good cause and hopefully now i can just buy an M3 and trash my Focus. oh well, dreams will be dreams!! oh and btw, no firewall modding, VERY VERY tight fit, new ECU, beefed up suspension, and cobra exhaust and wheels.

And where exactly would there be room for a drive shaft? Exhaust? The engine?! No way would that motor fit in there without modding the firewall, it's impossible.

thanx for da backup pryofenix. i have also seen one in person around where my folks live in georgia. the one i saw in person was twin turboed doin 700+ horses. it was an AMAZING sight to behold!!! could barely keep da front end on the ground!! that was what inspired me to do it to mine. no i just want it to run good till i get my m3. 🙂

twin turbo mustang motor in a focus....for THAT I bet the firewall had to be moved. I mean, look at how crammed that engine is in that photo - now add 2 turbos and extra piping and I don't really see how you could w/o moving a bunch of things inc. the firewall.

Well, I'm not a big rice fan, but the WRX will both out perform and out last the 'stang (And handle better under icy conditions!! WAHOO!) Whe WRX gets my vote.

Lol sry to kind of double post but my mom drives an Excursion and it blows. I am never buying a ford car ever. I would go with the WRX over the Mustang because in like a month everyone and their neighbor will have the new mustang whereas there will still be fewer people with the WRX... if you are in that price range, have you given any thought to the 350z?

WRX is a good choice but personally i'd for for the Mitsu Evo MR - Then i'd take a hacksaw to that damn wing! 😁
