Hi,

To make a long story short.....

Yesterday I migrated my service from ATT to Cingular in hopes of getting the new S710....however, the service sucked so bad, I completed a reverse-migration back to ATT.....I am enjoying good service again...ah!
Getting my text, calls going to voicemail like they should....etc.

Now, I bought a T637 to get familioar with SE until the S710A and I like SE phones now and want to get a more updated version through ATT....please help me in giving me a list of newer SE models that I can buy unlocked and use with ATT and my ATT SIM card.
Thanks

You migrated service from ATT to cingular yesterday and already have switched back? Didn't give it much time, huh?

No S710a for you then - unless you buy one unlocked. It's a Cingular exclusive. Other than that phone, the Z500a is the newest phone SE has out (flip, video, but no BT). After that, the t637 is your best bet - its not that old either. Just launched last fall.

I'm surprised you had such problems with the Cingular svc. Usually, if I'm in an area where I can't get Cingular svc, my phone automatically switches over to whatever I can pick up (AT&T, TMobile, SunCom, etc). Free roaming, so no extra charges.

I agree w/ pyrofenix - you didn't really give the svc much of a chance if you switched back in the same day.

You will probably be disappointed to know that within the year, the AT&T Wireless branding will be removed, & all fo...

So, this means I can't use a K700 either.....
No, I didn't give the service much time, but if u knew all the problems I had been having, you would've switched too.
Also, alot of people have done the same thing I also found out.
They say it will take 700 days to complete the ATT/Cingular merger and day zero was Nov. 15.
I will let them work out all the kinks first, b/c right now everything I experienced under Cingular sucks.

I don't see it taking 2+ years to complete the merger. Especially since ATT will relaunch ATT wireless as a reseller on Sprint's network in about a year.

April is the last month that Cingular can use the AT&T name in any way shape or form. then AT&T goes to sprint a few months after that.

I don't know anything about the ATT/Sprint thing that folks are referring to, but I can confirm that the goal is to have EVERYTHING seamlessly merged in 700 days. Day one was indeed on November 15th.

Just b/c there is a goal to have everything together within 700 days doesn't mean that AT&T customers won't be absorped until day 700 either. That goal has to do with EVERYTHING, including merging departments within the company, changing stores over to cingular, networking all towers for both companies, etc. It will be a gradual chagne, in phases.

So many customers come to my store thinking that we just "flipped the switch" and everything is together instantly. I hear "Well ain't y'all the same thing now?" way too often.

It's obvious that ATT didn't just flip a switch to become Cingular but the issue with taking 700 days is that ATT is keeping the rights to the name and will be re-releasing ATT wireless as a reseller on the Sprint Network...so they wont be using their old system (which will belong to Cingular)...but the customers that are currently part of ATT will HAVE to become cingular customers before 700 days since those customers are now cingular but ATT will have the name.

Granted, it's not all getting switched over to Cingular - there are small markets that will go to other companies and there is no doubt that it will take a bit of time to get things working as one.

I'm a current AT&T customer in Oklahoma City, OK. I was told by an AT&T phone rep a month or so ago that I would most likely be migrating to Alltel sometime within the next 6 months, due to Cingular being forced to sell off some of AT&T's assets (service areas) as part of the merger agreement, and Oklahoma was one of the areas they had agreed to sell off. Anyone know if there is any truth to this, and if so would I still have the choice to move to a Cingular rateplan instead of Alltel w/o breaking my AT&T contract and being charged an etf??? 😕

I'm pretty sure that is true. Not sure which areas specifically but I believe that was to appease the FCC so they would approve the merger.

where are you living and how many different places did you try your phone. You should have the same or even more coverage with Cingular. Oh yeah most old att wireless stores are returning all att wireless phones at the end of this month.

You didn't even let the phone finish programing! You need to give it at least 24 hours. When you leave the store with a new phone it's set to search for orange towers first. Depending on your market and how many blue towers are in your area, it may be reprogramed in the next 24 hours to search for blue towers first. Go get yourself a new phone and give it a couple of days.
