Still waiting for info to back up the phase out of the 6230

The subject pretty much says it all... hopefully the info to support the rumor will also support the 2 s710s per store theory.

Personally, I don't get it... My store got 4 Razrs in December when they first came out. We could have ordered more but chose not to. Heck, we could order more now if we wanted to - hasn't been discontinued yet. Doesn't seem to jive with the theory.

According to my information....basically the current version of the 6230 is being replaced...not phased out with a ENS capable version....basically what that means and stands for is "enhanced network selection" a more common feature on Cinglar's newer phones....I am a direct retail rep for Cingular out of the Chicago market

OK that sounds much more plausible than a complete phase-out.

Yet this does spark another question: Isn't ENS the main purpose behind the 64k sims? If so, then why make another version of the phone just for ENS? If not, then I must have misunderstood something I read on CSP back when the dang things came out. I'll have to look for that document & see if its still there.

to the best of my knowlege, the only difference with the 64k sims is that they network hop better (ENS if i remember correctly). maybe by new model it's as simple as adding another meg to its memory and ENS capability to it, almost just a firmware update?

Wait a minute...isn't the 6230 ENS-capable?
I just got one yesterday.

I still don't buy into that guy's story. You're correct about the difference between the 32 & 64k chips. I said pretty much the same thing earlier. If you can fix the issue with a new chip then there's no need to redesign the whole phone. That's the point of redesigning the chip - you don't have to replace everyone's phone.
