like I'm a 6 year old. On Cingular's website, there's a lot of info on AOL IM, specifically that it counts against your text messages. Now, on the S710a, it uses Media Net to connect. It's actually a pretty cool setup, very easy to use, but it uses data, 6K just to sign on. Is this a new scheme, specific to the S710a, and it's just not on the website yet? What exactly am I being charged for when I use AOL IM? I look at my message counter, and it hasn't incremented due to using IM. Please, someone explain this. Thanks

Im not for certain but I think the difference is the s710 is actually using an aplication that connects to aol's servers as opposed to other phones that the messages are sent via an sms (text message) gateway to the aol servers.

It's kinda a double-whammy. I don't recommend using AIM excessively on your phone unless you've got unlimited MEdia Net.

What you can do that will use only SMS is go to Aim.com & click on "from your cell phone", then "manage my mobile settings"... let AIM know what kind of phone you have using the pull-down menus, then set IM forwarding to "ON". In doing this, you will a...
