ok so ill have this phone by friday. i wanted to know what kind of video files it supports. also, can u transfer the vids to your computer and watch them in like winamp and all that without having to get a codec? also, how much space would like a 20 second video taken with the s710a camera take up on the memory stick duo?

1.3mp photo shouldn't be very large - but it all depends on how much the file is compressed.

I don't think winamp will play the video since it's an mp3 player. I'm not sure what video formats the phone supports though, i haven't payed much attention to that feature.

When I shoot 1280 x 1024 on my Olympus C3000 using the high compression format they're about 150k each. High quality they come out about 600k each. Both of those are jpg formats, so as you can see it is highly dependent on the compression used.

Just a guess, but since phones typically don't have much memory for photo storage, I'd guess that they'll use one of the higher compression formats and the files will be in the 150k range.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow when my phone gets here!

It supports .mp4 and 3gpp (I think) video files. Both can be played back with quicktime. The sample video on the phone is 487KB, 32 seconds at 176x144. The pictures I've taken range from 200kB to 300kB, at full resolution. It'll depend on the scene too, a picture of a white wall will be much smaller than one of a secenic background.

And yes, you can send the videos to your PC, use quicktime, like I said. I'm sure there is something else out there too, I didn't try Media player.
