Is it necessary to turn off the phone when taking the memory card out/in??? It would be cool to leave the phone on.

yah, you can just tap it in/out, no problem. if you are in the music menu and you pop it out with .mp3s on it, they just disappear from the list, then come back when you plug it in again.
